What!? Come on, it's a trail truck you guys what do you expect? Let it sit on a shelf? Lol "Good work not appreciated", I'm sure I'm greatful buddy, after all I am the one who threw down the cash. I must have forgotten when you buy a decent rig everyone freaks when you actually drive them.

What you chose to do to your Toy Trucks is completely your choice.

I'm with you at the end of the day nothing sadder than seeing them sitting on shelf.

Get em dirty and give em hell!!!

I agree it's your truck now and yours to do what you want with. And I'm glad it's going to be driven instead of disappearing into obscurity. But as the person who painstakingly built the truck it was a bit heartbreaking to see my creation at the bottom of a lake. Anyway, enjoy.

And try find some rocks above sea level!

I think your missing the point here. Its not about driving the truck as I think you should drive it till the cows come home. What I was a bit like was it being used like a bath toy and driven under water. Never got why people like to drive there trucks completely under water. Its a scale truck not a submarine.

I sense some tension...sorry to interrupt your conversation...but I see both points of view. But at the end of the day...its a rig and that's what it was made for....drive the heck out of it. Everything is fixable, but death.

Well, just wanted to let everyone know how the old Iron Pig is doing. Not much is new other than I am the current owner and I switched the wheels, tires and shocks back similar to the way nOOb had it set up.

Recently I was on the local craigslist and came across the 1:1 that this rig was modeled after. pardonmynOOb, as always, did an amazing job of replicating this truck, take a look at the pics I saved of the 1:1, wish I could have bought it too.

The first few pics are of the rig as it sits today, the rest are of the 1:1.

Yes, maybe! I was going to try and make that happen but the add was gone when I looked for it again. Apparently the rig was part of an estate sale, they were asking $15k. Hopefully it went to a good home and we'll get to see it again! Sad part is if I saved all the money I spent on RC's in the past few years, I could have bought it...

Hello old friend.

Through a trade with a member on RCC, I acquired n00b's very gorgeous and very original FJ55. It's been through a few owners, and unfortunately is showing some major wear and tear. And dunking in lakes is never good for tiny trucks.

So here's my takeover of this thread and the restoration of a classic.

A look at the underside shows how much this poor truck has been abused.

The cage and most of the drivetrain was pretty rusty, but intact. So I spent a few hours sanding and scrubbing to get it back to a like-new condition.

I expected the worst from the axle internals, but thankfully somebody put a ton of grease in there, and save for a bit of major grime on the bearings, everything cleaned up nicely. Even the fancy spools remained. I was sure those would be gone by now. Phew!

After that cleaning, I couldn't rightly put them back in the rock-rashed axial axle housings. Bring on the SSD housings, which look very nice under this truck! The Axial end bits fit perfectly and complete the rebuild.

Here's everything back to it's original condition.

Step two, get back to the body work!

Glad that this beauty of a rig ended up in your hand. Not that i don't wish it was in my hands. Cause I've been beat twice at the chance of purchasing this beauty.
