If the shackles were on the rear (of the front axle), would there be enough driveshaft travel to allow it to shorten? If the wheelbase was a bit longer it would work, but I know my shafts are bottomed out when the rig is at full droop.

Excellent idea for a smoother ride though.

on the next chassis that i make , it will have the option to run the front shackle mounted towards the middle of the chassis.i think that i will make it so that i can run dual shocks up front also. and i will soften the chassis lines also. give it some curves

Shackles on the rear of the front axle would be more scale

I honestly dont know why they didnt make the shackels on the front of the axle on the back of the leafs, Less chance of bending the leafs if you hit a bump probably more flex under a climbing load.

The only reason they put the shackels up front on the front axle on 1:1 rigs is because if they are on the back of the leafs when the breaks are applyed the front end dives because the axle pulls backwards causing the shackle to buckle, the down side is a stiffer ride though. Wheel base can also make a difference too.

not for a Ford, at least the older ones ran a front shackle.

I'm holding out for the all-alloy curvy version. That's gonna be just what this truck needs.

I like where this is going. What about fourlink mounts on the lower portion?
