Default A couple of Raisin s

Since I saw Just Zach's KOH Toy I have wanted to build one.
KOH Toy

The 1:1 Raisin has always been a rig I have stumbled upon while browsing online and it being a Colorado rig helped make up my mind.
Here is all I can find on the full size rig:
"The Raisin" Toyota V8 Rock Buggy - Pirate4x4.Com : 4x4 and Off-Road Forum

I finally found sometime and decided to go ahead and make two of them at the same time.
I started with a plan:

I started bending tube sunday afternoon, this is were they are at as of earlier today.

And a little mock up.

Shortly after these photos I finished both chassis'. RPMJ the owner of the second chassis is going to sand blast them tomorrow so we can paint them and try to get them driving over the weekend.

All I have access to is 3/16th and 1/8th solid rod, so I went with the 1/8th inch, because of the smaller rod diameter I added a couple extra braces in to keep this one from bending and add to the look a little.

Wheelbase will be right around 12.25" and belly clearance should be around 2.25". More details to come shortly.

Thanks for looking,
-Ty

Build yes, sell no. I did just strip it down to a chassis though to use the drivetrain and electronics off it though.

Thanks guys!

Yeah I saw that one too, I just liked Zach's more.

Got some progress done on the old grapes.

Started the day with 3 packs of Traxxas Revo rod ends, tapped them all for 8/32 and made a bunch of links out of 8-32 all thread with 6mm brake line. In between making the links I threw some paint down on the freshly sand blasted chassis.

Got them both to roller status.

I went ahead and started mocking up some recaro cell phone seats as well.

Hopefully more to come soon!

-Ty

One of them is about done now. Still need to do a little more styrene and some lighting, but that has not stopped me from ruining the new paint on the rocks.

Panels are just a quick and dirty job until I buy some more styrene.

So far it drives really, really well. I will make an honest effort to get some video.

I REALLY like the look of your hood mounts. What are you using for a post?

They are actually really simple. Brazed to the tube work under the hood are 3mm nuts, run through those nuts are 3mm screws. I use loctite or super glue on the screws to keep them from moving, then grind a small notch into them to help hold the pin in place.

Thanks again guys!

Looks good Ty!

I think you need to let a little more air out of the rear tires.

All the tires ride a little flat, the more I use the Pit Bulls the flatter they get.

I'm running full RC4WD foams uncut in them, I thought that would do it. They work great, but definitly look a little deflated. Oh well I usually run pretty soft foams, it seems to fit my style of driving.

Thanks for the comments! It's a fun little rig and one day I may just finish the details.
