BTW, some pics from a few weeks ago with Travis C and his sick FJ80.

New body since the last time I posted up as well as some TSL's and custom Dark Soul wheels (tires and wheels will go on a different build, just wanted to make sure the beads would hold).

Hey Dean,

I have to give credit where credit is due. On the RCC 12 Days Giveaway where we had to post up our favorite thread, I selected this one. It was really inspirational for me when I first saw it way back when and is now responsible for costing me lots and lots of money over the years.

Keep it up, brotha!

Tommy

I still love this truck. Simple and it just plane works. Looks good with the swampers. I think you should keep them.

This is exactly what I think as well, it's so simple but one of the coolest rigs here, don'y know why but it is and yea Dean I vote for keeping the swampers as well they look pretty sweet on there

Alright, I still have this truck and finally have a few updates. RC4WD R3 trans and T-case (reversed for the front OD) from a TF2.

Here it is sitting between the frame rails for mock up.

Simple yet effective trans mounts and a brace to help keep the motor mount in one piece.

I was able to reuse and modify the previous electronics plate modified into the shift guide and servo plate. Also redrilled the t-case skid/mount for the new t-case.

Looks great Dean! That's the perfect trans / t-case for this rig.

Little update....

Last Saturday was the last run with the old body on it and unfortunately, I lost signal at the beach and it went for a swim in the Pacific Ocean. Wasn't sure if I'd get it back as it was being swept out with every crashing wave. Got lucky and was able to dig the tires in which bought me some time and allowed me to waddle out and grab it. Only lost the steering servo so no big deal.

Since the 1:1 went to New York, I decided to change things up a bit on this truck during the cleaning. Chassis remains the same but the body will be replaced. I've had an original Hilux bed for some time that I converted to a drop bed and always wanted to put it on this truck so what better time than now.

Still flexes pretty well with only a little tire rub on the drop bed which you can see in the last pic, I can live with that.

Still have yet to decide on a color... Any thoughts?

Here's a shot of the drop bed.

Only two ounces heavier than a naked bruiser bed. However, I'll still need to add a roll bar, spare and some scale junk. It's going to get heavier.

So I was thinking about the paint, maybe blue or white with the original hilux decals like the ones in the old tamiya video? Already had a red one back in the day so that's out.

Anyone else have an idea?
