How do you like that 3 link setup?

I like 3-link, but can't understand why all the companies that make "kits" insist on making the panhard so short. They should extend the axle mount closer to the knuckle. This Hand Bros kit only works because I made my own chassis mount. Stock, it bumpsteers like crazy.

May I ask: where did you get those front light buckets?

The light buckets are from the Tamiya hilux rollbar.

Been a while. Finally able to get out into the garage again.

Nearly ready for the trails.

Gotta make a cover for the batt.

First timer for interior. The steering wheel and column came out great.

Whats left:
-Finish inner fenders
-Find a driver figurine
-Make tow straps and hooks
-Powdercoat frame
-Add lights

Pretty close. Getting excited.

Yup. Started this rig while my wife was pregnant. After baby came I didn't touch it for about a year. Back in the game.

Ahhhh, the build bug. Very contagious. Here we go....

Took the rig out and it was "ok." Steering and front suspension left a lot to be desired. That Hand Bro axle mount gave me some odd behavior throughout the suspension travel. So I started bending and burning metal again.

This is the design is have on the Toyota. Completely bomb proof.

Much better:

Next, knuckles. I'm done with Axial high-steers. Ackerman angles are horrible. Installed some spare VP zero-Ackermans and got some better steering. You can also see my contoured drag link.

I also added a sway bar. On its maiden voyage, it felt 'floppy' for lack of a better word.

Now for inner fenders. I got creative with some strip of plastic and a bike tube. Works WELL!

Test day:

Glamour shot:

Review of changes:
Not bad. Getting there. It still seemed very willing to lift its front end when climbing the steeps. So I added a couple mounting tabs that raise the upper links in the rear. I also put some pen springs in the front shocks to limit their travel a little. My sway bar is too thick. Need to shop for thinner piano wire.
All in all, not bad. Getting there.

Thanks for lookin.

And, no. Playing in mud doesn't show how well a rigs climbs. I didn't get any more pics of it on the rocks because I was too busy driving. Lol!

I hope that is tubing and not rod. That is a lot of weight on the wrong end of the chassis.

Not to worry. Its tube. And, after full assembly, its still front biased.

Fun pics. Poser pics.

Promptly scratched the powder coating. No biggie. Bound to happen. Still trying to find the balance of this rig. The thinner sway bar worked really well. 4-pole brushless was a mistake for me. It has tons of power and it crawls pretty well, but it descends horribly. Going back to my trusty BRXL.
