| Scout's Honor - New from the 808 Garage.
Finally started a new build. Always wanted a true truggy. Also wanted something pretty out of the ordinary. A couple months ago, a Proline Ambush (Intl Scout) popped up in the classified. I've always wanted one of these, but by the time I go into scalers, these gems were NLA. So even though this one was ROUGH, I needed to save it from the trash. The body looked to be comp cut for a 2.2 crawler. This made the rear pretty unusable. So I went at it with some shears. The result: The paint. This was new for me. Not sure what kind of paint was on it, but it was on there THICK and it was flaking in places. Brake fluid applied. Miracle stuff! Crystal clear and ready for new....later. Next step was to strip a newly acquired SCX10 frame and make some sliders that would also double as body mount: Now for rear tubework. I'll shut up now: And today: Still needs tons of work: -Finish welding and more bracing for rear. -Rear shock mount plate. -Front bumper. -Shocks. -Temp 4-link is installed. Need to fab the 3-link and panhard mount. -Etc....... Excited about this one. All my own. \m/ |

Small update: Mounted up some Dingo flares to take up some of that nasty fender gap. Better/finished pic when I get home. Also got the CMS and 3-link mostly done. Some bracing and finish welds and it'll be ready. This one should be ready to run finally. Brushed? Brushless? Not decided yet. |

Slightly better, slightly more completed pics. Lol. Got a Honcho interior from Dinky thats going in there after some massaging. Need to make inner fenders and a front bumper. Having a difficult time with the bumper design. I want it to protect up to the top/front corners of the body, but it always ends up looking like too much bumper. It might just get a simple, low-rise stinger. We'll see. -B |

its funny sometimes how the hardest things often go unnoticed. that lower bar coming off the chassis rails, with the bends in two directions, and done all in one piece. impressive sir. |

Thanks for the compliments guys. Yes, those are the TSL XL tires that are mounted to some widened Axial 8-holes. The sliders that clamp the body were just an experiment. I still need to add a mount up front, but it works. Stang: Are you referring to the lower section of the rear cage? I tried the build this cage with as few a pieces as possible. Compound bends were a PITA. Lol. |

Your scout is looking good, nice tube work! I wish Proline didn't retire that body, it was pretty sharp..

New bumper c/o Yotapane! Saved me the hassle of building my own; an impossible feat with an 8mo old in the house. Bolted on a 3R winch that I bought off here. Lovin the fit. Just need to raise it up a bit. Raise it up and tuck it back a little. This rig may get to see rocks this summer. Lol! |
