Had a good time out at the river with the guys. I added some CI duel stage foams and it really changed the handling of the little jeep. It weighs 7.2 lbs rtr and it was really washing out on the side hills, now with the new foams it really holds the line. They also make the tires a bit taller.

tried on some hitman 1.9s while I was mounting them up on a set of pitbulls for a buddy. I really like the bling factor these give it. But I'm not ready to fork over the $$ for them.

So up until this point I had been running a 4 link with a CMS. I know that is frowned upon in 1:1 because of the bumpsteer you get, but I wasnt really worried about bumpsteer on my RC because it doesnt see the highway. But a side effect of the 4 link and CMS that I found was that when my wheels were bound and I tried to turn it would lift of lower the body instead of turning.

After having this problem in two comps I decided I needed to find a way to weasel a track bar in there and convert it to a 3 link front.

So i got out my spare front axle housing and went to work measuring and cutting. I ended up with a trick little panhard and upper link mount similar to a hand brothers mount but it gave me a bit more room for my panhard.

here are some pics of the mockup with random links and then the finished product.

it tie into the top two holes on the housing and into one of the 4 bolts that holds the gear case together.

Also picked up a driver for the TJ

The seats were a bit large, so I decided to switch back to the stock TJ seats.

Had a good time at our July comp and the new trackbar really helped the steering!

Also found out I had broken an iron cross locker at some point and it finally decided to spin in the case near the end of the comp in the rock pile.

And we are pretty much up to date now.

I added a push bar to the front bumper to protect the winch, as its been taking a beating. Also painted the front knuckles to look like my 1:1.

Look forward to wheeling this one for a while. I'll update more as it happens.

this is the kind of terrain I prefer wheeling in......the moist terrain helps with grip and gives it that more realistic off-roading effect. this is a very cool pic...like how you caught some of the dirt spinnig off the pitbulls.

Thanks guys, we have about 30 acres of private offroad park covered in that sand clay dirt. It makes for a great comp location!

You can get styrene to stick to the new bright bodies with epoxy. I stretched the same body into an LJ. Here's a pic.

White Power!

I think I missed all of that (I left late Saturday night and I was riding shotgun with Nick[the guy who built the scale Equalizer buggy]). I plan on being at RBD as well with some good RC ammunition. Didn't Ricky block off GBU for an RC event last year?

I'm in (or was in) the process of building a rig with CMS and 4 link, some of the guys told me about the issue you were having but I was going to leave it & see how it worked out. Looks like it makes more sense to just go for the 3 link and avoid the hassle. Thanks for posting

Also, very nice TJ!
