Default Guzzy the RED TJ Build

New Years resolution was to lose some weight up high. I started with a redesigned motor mount and today I hacked part of the cage off and put some speed holes in the mounts.

Spent a bit this evening making some new aluminum links. Bought the aluminum rod from McMaster and just tapped it for revo ends.

Still need to make my rear uppers, my traxxas ends should be here tomorrow

How thick is the aluminum you are using? I made a. Cardboard template for these and then traced it on aluminum and cut it out with scissors.

I may have missed it but what is your wheel base? Also I have my motor/trans mounted in my TJ very similar to how yours is and I keep wearing out the drive shaft between the trans and t-case. Have you had any issues like I am?

Wheelbase is right around 11.5 I think. How long is your tcase to trans driveshaft? I left my skid in the stock location, so my rear links are much shorter than my fronts. This makes for a longer mid shaft. I've been running a stock wb8 shaft in that location since I built it.

But on that note I have been looking at the semi mega shafts from rc4wd to put one in there. I keep forgetting to measure for it,

Yah, my skid is in the stock location. My chassis was already modified when I got it so the body sits further forward then yours. If I moved the skid back my rear links would be too short. I'm using stock scx10 u joints and drive shafts now but I'm gonna try a WB8 and see how it works.

I tried the old style axial ujoint shafts for one trip, and could not keep it together. It kept just twisting the ears off the joint.

I have a set of wb8 shafts at a bad angle and they are still holding up to a tekin 10.5 brush less. And the rig is HEAVY!

Are you talking about to the tcase or to the axles? It seems there is more force on the trans to tcase shaft then the tcase to axles. It's basically doing twice the work. But the wb8s are holding up for me in all positions on my jeeps

Thank you! I was hoping to finish up the new control arms Sunday. I ordered some revo rod ends from an eBay seller in ga last Wednesday, it's usually a 2 day shipment, but on the tracking it says it's gone from ga to Indiana now, with a scheduled delivery date of last Saturday? Hope they come in this week.

I'm using Slash shafts and joints from the t-case to the axels. They're holding up fine. Trans to the t-case is the one I keep breaking. I agree that it's a case of having to run two axles off of one shaft. I got a WB8 shaft I'm gonna put in and see how that holds up.

Had a break from baby duty today when my mom came by for a while to watch the baby.

Got my new aluminum links assembled and installed, I think they look great, we'll see how well they hold up.

Flexy

And another shot of the new cage work.
