Default Hilux Truggy reborn!

So I got my first rig back in 2011.

It was as follows:
Scx10 with Hilux Cab
Custom Truggy bed/sliders/bumpers
Traxxas XL5 esc with 35t Integy motor
Hitec 645
Mirrored the tranny
1.9" Mayhem Wheels
Rc4wd Rok Lox tires (were the tires to have at the time )

Here are some pics of it in action. I eventually traded the truggy cage/sliders are they were made out of solid rod and was ridiculously heavy severely hindering crawling ability. Once I removed it and ran it cageless it was like a freaking goat .

Eventually added some other mods which helped. Changed colors a few times...Blue...OD Green....Desert Tan...then I got my first NB JK rig and this poor thing was tucked away in a corner for nearly 2 years

After building my Brute and working on my 1/6 Willys I traded one of my JK's for this sweet Mattzilla truggy chassis and thus began the Hilux revivial!

Current Specs:
Mattzilla Hilux Truggy Chassis
Axial Scx10 Tranny
Narrowed AR60 axle
BRXL w/ Torquemaster Expert 55t
OD gears in front with Highland Crawlers no slop locker
1.55 Pitbull Growlers stretched over 1.9" Rc4wd Tango down wheels
Scale stuffs

Somehow despite adding all this stuff it is lighter than the original even without the cage. *shrug

And how it sits

Can't wait to test out these new tires and enjoy my first rig all over again

I did the same thing....my hilux truggy was my first rig and since my clod and tundra truggies I left it alone. And now with the new JK build they will all be forgotten.

How is the compound on those pits? Sticky? Hope they handle as expected for ya.

Yeah they are super soft and sticky as expected from Pitbull. From the reviews all they say is how "Pitbully" they are....meaning...badass So only time on the trail will tell. The debut run will let me know how much weight tuning I need to do

Been playing with this rig lately and added some locked up hardware to add some more realism to the wheels. Cant wait to get more for my other rigs

Looking good man....those tango downs actually look great with the truck, they fit it well.

I'm doing my 1st hilux build right now. Good luck with yours.

Thanks! Yeah the tango downs fit it very well, I have some steelies laying around and tried them and it just didnt "fit" the overall look. Granted now I want to put Tango Downs on everything else I have Good luck with your Hilux

I shouldn't try to take "nice" pics with my Galaxy S3, they just come out terrible IMO.

Heres a nice quality DSLR pic

Thanks man!

The license plate is from the tamiya hilux body parts tree "M" and sticker set. It comes with several different license options.

Well due to some recent acquisitions...this rig is also getting some much needed attention.

Picked up a new mojave body, grill, clear glass, mirrors, LED kit, N00B fenders and rad support, emblem stickers, part of a floor kit and some other scale goodies.

Need to pick up a back and glass for it since the rogue back from the hilux wont fit.

Still debating whether to make the existing body a "junk" cab by using the N00B fender liners along with a missing fender (front part of passenger fender is in trail heaven from the last run).

Then just build the Mojave as a super scale one. Who knows.

Rig is also sitting on RC4WD 1.55 voids wrapped in growlers instead of the tango downs. As much as I liked the tango downs I am really liking these better. They just need some scale hardware to finish them.

Between this and my other rigs hopefully I'll get the interior done some time in the next few weeks.

Here are some recent pics. It is next to a Ebay 2door JK body.

Worked on it tonight. Replaced steering and panhard links with stainless or titanium links I just got.

Replaced the regular beadlock hardware ont he voids with Locked up RC 2mm hardware. This was very nerve racking as the fake screws are so short...not to mention the beadlock rings apparently are really soft metal so I had to be careful not to strip the rings while installing the scale hardware. turned out pretty sweet. Will post pics.

Only question I had for myself is whether or not I should've painted the rings black before installing all that hardware so the hardware would "pop" more.

This rig currently has some VP scx10 housings under it. Awaiting some parts and will be selling the VPs to either put some SSDs or those fancy NC60's under it. Haven't decided which rig will get those when they arrive later this week.
