Hey Greg,

Nice crawling pics...that lil blue truggy with the custom rear ended up killer....thats a lot of front steering you got going on there, i am greatly impressed.

Is that a result of the vanquish setup? im checking my stock steering and there is no way i can get even close to that...so i employ rear steering

is there video of this rig crawling?

Hey Alex....I've done the XR mod to three different trucks, and this one was my first attempt, and still the best turning radius of all three...not sure why, but yes, quite the steering set up. Maybe the 1.9 tires now that I think of it...the other two are 2.2 tires. I have one truck that still doesn't have it, and I keep swearing that it'll get that set up soon. It's an expensive mod.

I definitely need someone to come out and just shoot pics and video...have lots of nice pics, but no videos sad to say.

Good to hear from you my friend

Just a little update
Been crawling a fair amount with this truck lately.

New paint job, new PitBulls and dropped a lot of weight from the front tires.
So much fun driving this truck.

And lots of nice water action.....thanks for the photo Meatwad ...always a pleasure Crawlin with you

Really like this truck a lot

Took a break from this

Clanker's rock park

Big project

Had a bent link on the truggy, so decided to change a few things up.

Built new links all around...put some bends in them, I'd always used straight links....had some on another truck that works real well (actually out crawled this truck)....anyway

Also added 3/8" to the overall wheel base ....all in the rear
Some weight on the front knuckle weights.... .5 oz per side
Complete re-build of the tranny...all new Robinsons, and a metal housing...also changed to 32P 56t metal spur. Have some SuperShafty output shafts in the mail...looks like a good fit for this truck.
The XRmod front axle is beginning to show some wear a and tear...my VP Knucks are wobbling. I may go back to a conventional axle when this gives up the ghost.
Needed to replace some rusted up hardware too....truck likes the water
I have some pics....will have more later...maybe a cab color change

Thanks for checking it out

Don't think they look right under an SCX10....at least a class 2 truck.

For a class 3 with some 2.2's .... Maybe. Not this ride

Truck ran pretty good after I fixed my wheel nut, I need a stiffer spring in the rear though

Howdy

Decided to go to Axialfest this year and take this as the main ride.....

How old is this body....it's the original....and I broke it at a mount location...and it weighed 10.9 oz....jeez. Thought process goes like this. The truck is set up for comps I like them on the heavier side. Axialfest will be a great challenge for hour after hour of running. Ok, bottom line, I wanted a lighter truck.

Lost 4 oz with the new body ( no interior...I'd re visit this if the scale points warrant it...but I'd rather have the capability). The pit bulls weight 7.2 oz lighter than the treps....but I added some weight to a custom servo mount Warren fabbed up for me and added about 4 oz right under the servo. Took the weight out of the wheel and reduce rotating mass.

Wanted copious amounts of lights....and a new bumper

Sure think the pit bulls look better than the trepadors

Pictured with the class 3 rig....ready for Axialfest

It'll never be prettier than it is today.....thanks for looking

Awesome thread and great rigs. That tube chassis is rad. How'd axialfest go? Looking to start my rig from the ground up and do a truggy style.

Axialfest was the shiz....never seen so many little trucks in one place...everybody smiling and having a blast. I've already made plans for next year, rent a camper and all.

Post up your truggy build 701....love me some truggy as you can see

I'll share some pointers...thanks for checking this ride out
Happy crawling

So, I built this rig to comp with...seems like years ago.
I have the original XR mod done to this axle....i.e. The narrow version. I like it the best out of all the other axles I've done. I have broken, and fixed this axle several times and it just keeps on playing like it should.

The group I like to comp with has been taking a break for a year, and one year I was in the hopspital for most of the comp season...so I never got to wield this truck against anybody else. Well this winter, they started again . Yes, I'm excited.

I keep waiting for this axle to break again so I can build another. I have everything I need to do it without stealing anything from this axle. But this one just won't break...no matter how much I abuse it. But it's getting old and loose...so, it's going to become a back-up.

I will build another and post up for the comp season....first comp on Jan3rd

Pictures later....

As promised....

This axle is still in pretty good shape ....will keep the original as a spare.
But completely re-build the new one for strength and durability.

New stuff

Holes drilled and tapped

Three screws each side....this will not twist on me. That is the only thing I've noticed doing this mod. You need to keep the tubes from spinning....anchor them well.

Ran out of bearings ........what ?

More later
