The welds on that tube work are a beautiful thing.

I can assure everyone that it's fully welded. i looked it over multiple times. in that pic where it's not welded that was the "tacked up" stage. this chassis was fun for me to do. it was something new which is always good. |

So I got out of work about noon...still missed my comp today though. BUT, I have the next best thing....building sh!t...my wife claims I enjoy building better than crawling with them. Actually when they work like you expect them to after all your thought and labor, that's when I smile the most.... So, it begins: Time for tear down ... It didn't take very long till we were down to basic rails and tube....I'm going to give it to a crawler friend. He really wants it and I can't sell it....but you gotta come get it buddy... Almost looks naked....poor thing...but I'll see it on the trails again soon Wow, we were close to the pumpkin...but still goes past, that's all we need Warren makes this rear link mount also...the weight was a trade off for the collars I had on the axles before.... This is all I could get done today...if I get some time tomorrow, I'm going to de-anodize my VP "C"s and Knucks to build another XRmod front axle. I have to extend my ESC battery wires to the tool box, and figure out some lights and look at the interior...still can't find a suitable driver for this...I want that splinter cell guy...any links to where I can find him anyone ??. Thanks for looking |

Looking good Greg, I like that upper link mount. I stole your idea for using the Tractor Supply Co. tool box to mount my battery . I drove all the way to Auburn today in the rain to get one. Thank you.

She's looking good Greg Can't wait to see it under its own power. BUT the old truggy looks sad and lonely, tis a sad day. The comp today was mud-ly epic. Only fell on my ass once! |

| Re: Clanker's Hillux truggy---WTFab chassis I like the Tamiya paints and primer. I sit them in a pan of warm water for a while before I use them and they really flow nicely, dries quickly too.

I agree sir...Pactra is right there also...never tried the hot water trick though. I will this time. The only other hard body paint job I've done was the Tf2, fancy color and it bubbled up on me. Only reason I would apply a primer is for the scratch effect, I think that is necessary with these hard shell bodies.

NECA Splinter Cell 7 Inch Action Figure Sam Fisher or http://www.toywiz.com/splintercellsamfisher.html I have bought from them and didn't have any problem with my order, though you might be able to find him cheaper on amazon or ebay. Warm water should be fine. It causes the propellant to expand and gives you more air pressure, also works well on canned air. Some people say if your doing a primer coat you should let it sit for 24 hours to degas. | |

looks like it is coming together very well. If I could make you suggestion though. if you run your rear shocks out board it will give them a few degrees of inward lean, which I have found helps them preform a little bit better. here's a pic of what I mean. in this pic though I would switch the spacer piece(red arrows) to the outside and the link to the inside of the mount. but you see the shocks to the outside (we call that outboard around here). |
