Default Clanker's Hillux truggy---WTFab chassis

So...Clanker's truggy is not up to the rules of a true class 2...
And I don't have any free time to build another tube chassis so I employed the services of Warren at WTFab...A blue star holder here on RCC...I had seen some of his work and really liked it and we worked out a deal....

Say goodby to tube chassis #1....this rig actually ran really well...but I wanted to follow the rules.

One of my favorite shots

And a more recent photo....ready for this years comp season when a member on here pointed out that my truggy frame did not meet class 2 Specs. Tube did not extend past the pumpkin, and the bob in the rear was too narrow...

So, a tear down is in order, hopefully this weekend. I will use most of the guts and electronics off this first build. Only change will be a new XR-mod front axle...and I will lay awake trying to figure out what color to pain this....

I forgot to mention, I got WTFab's package today...very well packed, took quite a few minutes to get into the box....fealt like a kid at Christmas time...

Warren was kind enough to post up some pics of his progress as he built the chassis...thought I would share some of those.

I had sent him some SCX10 rails and a hard body Hillux I wanted to use for this build...also a "tractor supply" tool box...

Sliders and body mounts....nice

Tool box....hadn't chopped the rails yet

Battery and light controller will go in here....plenty of room

Can't say enough about the quality and communication Warren and I achieved.
Warren is very quality conscious...I wouldn't hesitate doing another chassis with him

Oh, I see, you're going to blind your competition with the stainless tube and bright tool box. Looks great my friend, can't wait to see more. Subscribed.

lol...we'll see how blinding it will get...but I don't think I'm going to paint that nice stainless. Warren does the cleanest joints I've ever seen...

I unfortunately have red Wraith VP chubs and Knucks...so I'm a bit limited as to what color to paint the cab. I'd sure trade the red wraith stuff for silver, gun metal, or even blue....

Thanks for the chassis Warren...you the man.

I was curious if there were any special challenges with doing your chassis on the end of SCX10 rails...or any other issues that came up ...

honestly just figuring out how to go about the frame to tube transition. since I always build full tube chassis' for myself, I never had to worry about it. but I came up with what I think worked out pretty well.

I'm sure you weren't talking about my knees...

And I'll probably take HalfCab's suggestion...I have some degreaser that worked on some rings real well before...then again, a red Yota isn't so bad

I think it turned out real well....I sure hope I get some time on this at some point this weekend...work is rearing it's ugly head.

Some more pics...first ones are just tacked for mock-up

Extends past the pumpkin...just like I needed....

Ready to ship....notice the nice joints

Thanks for looking

You know Todd, I tried the krylon for plastic paint on my TF2...it bubbled on me...haven't tried the rustoleum.... might have to stick with the Trusted Tamiya
