Default Project B.T.S v2.0 (another Hilux Build)

Yup, That's right... I am back at it after a long time off. A while back, I sold off almost all my crawer stuff to get in SCT's just to find out.. I sucked!

So, having been out of crawlers for a while, I dusted off the bins, and decided to build a new 1.9 dubbed project B.T.S. v2.0.

Now I am not new to Yota's.. and have build a few in my time. Most notiable
Project "OG" my origianl Hilux (that I sold off )

Having wanted to kick my self in the ass for selling that one... I decided to build a new one, in a totaly new direction. Project "B.T.S". This one was a beast... I loved how it performed. And yet... I sold it off as well.

So, that brings me up to today... The start of Project "B.T.S. v2.0"

This is going to be a slow build. Funds are going to be a little tight over the next few months (hollidays, and having just bought 2 new cars for the wife and I)

So, most of everying will be hand fabbed, and that takes me a while to do.

Glad to see that someone out there enjoyed my previous builds as much as I did.

Got a little more work done today on BTS. Not much... but a little. My oldest daughter's school called me today to pick her up, she has some sort of stomach bug. *Joy* and my wife is ill, and has lost her voice. *even more joy*

While they rest in bed, I snuck out to the with just enough time to make a crude rear shock relocation set up. I'll clean it all up when it comes to me finished product. But for about $1.00 worth of scrap metal.... I sure beats $20.00 for a pre-fabbed kit. Also note the steel upper links. *LOL* Leftover scrap rod from my Mean green JK build that I did a while back.

I also sorta go the front axle mounted. I just ordered a 3 link connecter from RPP along with the interior "Glass" and some other odds and ends that I seemed to have tossed a while ago. *Note the cab is not mounted, and the bed may get dropped a bit when I finalize everything

Now to find some drive shafts!

Good luck with the new project hope it turns out as well as the previous rig's or better. I appreciate slow builds, mine usually wind up taking a while as well. Heck I built at least three front bumpers for my Yota truggy before I liked what I finally welded on it,lol.

I completely understand! I have gone through so many rods, and had at least 4 or 5 renditions of bumpers from my previous builds. I am going to try to NOT do that this time. The key word is trying.

So, as per my norm, I have been so busy with work that not much progress has been made on the Yota. Pretty much all I have had time for was mounting up the body, and finished working out the suspension.

But, I have the day off today, and with only having a few errands to run, I had a few moments to bed some steel rod, and get to work on making some simple rock sliders.

Nothing fancy.. sometimes simple is best! And yes, I know my welding skill are sub-par. Let's just ignore that fact. They will look better when painted!
