I had an orange for lunch today but I don't really like orange trucks. You should paint it apple.

Looking good with a bit of peach, or is it apricot? colour on the body. LOL Interesting choice of colour for the interior though. Keep up the good work. Cheers H2Micr0 |

There was more work to the interior. Not final colour in that pic. More paint done. Tons more detail work and electrical fiddling to go. Then a shakedown at the Headquake Off-road Park for Animals.

It's all about detail work and sorting out the perfect hiding places for batteries and electronics now. The balance of the painting is finished, just need to flat everything out. Interior is nearly completed too. |

Home stretch! Spent the day checking my electrics, making end point adjustments, cleaning up the wires and adding a few bits and pieces. I 3D printed these spotlight covers and added a printed vinyl decal with the Hella logo. The spotlights are aluminium units from Gmade. Here's the interior and the neat electronics and wiring. You can see how the GCM transmission relocation kit really helps to clean things up. Putting all that weight forward helps tons on climbs. Guess where the battery goes... I also decided to revert back to the Pit Bull Rock Beasts. This is a Class 2 truck after all, I might as well go big. |

Question for the smart gearing people: I'm running a 45T motor on a 20 tooth pinion and 80 tooth spur gear. It doesn't seem to be getting hot, but wanted to check with the experts.

With that spur/pinion you're at a 4.0 ratio. a little higher then the 5.6 recommendation, but if it's not getting hot, it's really nothing to worry about, you might just go through brushes a bit faster.

If I switch to a 12 tooth pinion, I'm thinking it's a more efficient 57:1. Does that mean I'll effectively lose 1/2 of the speed by changing the pinion?

Glass is in. Originally, I had lofty hopes of vacuum forming from the cut outs. I didn't get the heating quite right, and rather than waste valuable time experimenting, I caved and cut them out of a lexan sheet. Swapped the 20 tooth pinion for a more reasonable 15 tooth. I lost some speed, but not so much that I really noticed. Whatever helps move this anchor, I'll do it. As soon as I put all the weight of the vehicle on the chassis, the rear suspension started to show some signs of weakness. I elected to switch the existing shocks for a cantilever setup that's much firmer. I theorize that less movement in the rear, where the body is tallest, is going to offer better performance. I have a few tiny things to do for scale points, and to figure out a clamp/mount for the front of the body and then it's outdoors for some testing. I originally wired all the fog lamps and top light bar, but now I'm thinking that I prefer the Hella covers more. I can't really have it both ways. Thoughts? I'll always have head and tail lights at the least. |

| Re: Imthatguy's 1987 Range Rover Classic Thanks guys! Another few days and you can see it in person! All done. Save for a licence plate. Still tinkering mechanically, but cosmetically, I'm there. Can't wait to scratch it. |

Nicely done bud. So clean, and the details are spot on. Can't wait for more pics and if we're lucky a video.
