Changing the steering link. It's the only aluminum link left. Wheel wells coming next.

Stainless link installed. Love it.

Next up are the rear fender wells. I'm going to carve up the cargo area from the NB JK interior that I got the rear seat.

Now for the tool box, which I'll attach the rear fenders.
The box is shaped from lexan and then wrapped with the aluminum diamond plating.

Better photos to come.

I finally was able to finish the rear fenders. Small scale items to finish things on this rig.

This is one overseas ride I've always liked too. My next build is for the redneck in me. Some of you may have seen it on the Mattzilla Facebook page. I'll give a sneek peek of my next build.

Well, I'm about to get this thing wrapped up to a point I'm pleased. I just made some light brackets for the 5" VP light bar up top. I cut some 1" square tubing in a diagonal half and then shaped it with a grinding wheel, drilled some holes, grinded a little more, paint, and will this guy just shut and go to the pictures. That's all we need anyway. Right?

Nice and nice, I love them both, and yes I saw that on the mz fb page. I've got something different I'm going to have him do soon. Still trying to get my old rig back as well. Let me know brother keep up the awesomeness!

We just finished our Fall Series this past weekend and the lil FJ finished fourth. The shorter wheelbase kills it on time. I'm always having to winch myself up some of the stuff. But on the better note, my F-350 took 1st in the C3 group. Here are a shot my 12yr old took of it during the comp.

I've been thinking about getting rid of the Yota axles due to XVD pins breaking left and right. I got my hands on a set of grey Curries recently to put under this FJ. As I was fitting the new axles underneath, I discovered a huge problem. The VP truss on top of the Curries would not allow any articulation. So I pulled out my spare transmission and stared turning it some. I devised a solution with some steel square tubing. I'll have to post these pictures separately due to PB deleting my post when I try to add extra photos, blah, blah , blah. I trimmed the square tubing to how it looks and did plenty of grinding and filing. Then I drilled the holes and blamo, I made my very own set of trusses with tons of room on top.

Here is on painted and trimmed a little more for inner link placement on the rear. I mouted the links on the outside up front. You can even see a drop of water. That is either some sweat or a tear.

You can mod the yota axles to use wraith chubs, knuckles, univerals. I would try that with them. You lose so much clearance with the curries.

That would have been nice to know when I did it. I'll keep that in mind with my next set. Those Yota axles are gone now. The extra weight of the Curries does help this particular rig. It's a wee bit on the top heavy side. I'm currently making some minor Dremel adjustments to the cage. I'll post some photos soon.

But thank you for the info. I really appreciate it.

We've made a few changes to this ole FJ over the past few months. The wheels and tires were the first thing to change. When I decided to get rid of the blue and gray Clod, I wanted to keep the wheels. I used the PB XL with CI single stage foams in the rear and PB foams up front. They hook up really well.

I also put in some brake rotors that double as 12mm hexes. I might be transferring these to the Raptor soon and putting some others on here.

After our first comp last month, we decided it was time to lighten up the top a little. So the light bar was removed, as were the metal plates that they were anchored. Then I removed the two bars that dropped down behind the driver and passenger seats. The combined weight loss of those items was almost 3 ounces. That is actually a lot when you think about a nine pound rig.

Now it does perform better and was able to pull some lines in the back yard it was not able to pull with the extra weight. I found that unbelievable, but it did. Next comp is this Saturday. See how the first son drives it this weekend.

Photobucket was surprisingly not working right for some reason. Imagine that. But its back from its bathroom break.
