| Full Throttle Class 1 TF350 Full Throttle C1 TF350 Figured I'd throw a quick thread on here for the C1 rig I've been building over the last few weeks. Details: Chassis, Axles, and Suspension: TrailFinder 2 Electronics: Holmes Crawlmaster 28 turn Holmes BRXL HiTec 7954SH Castle BEC Wheels: Raw 1.9 VP OMF Tires: 1.9 Dick Cepek Mud Country Body: Tamiya F350 Extras: Interior Bed Topper Flares Lighting First, the shell. I wanted a topper on this one to give it that "full" look. Almost like an Expedition or Excursion. I wanted to add size to this shell somehow since I wasn't stretching it into an extended or crew cab, so the topper will do that I think. I tried for weeks to source an already manufactured top for the F350 bed, but no dice. So, I took a Dinky Yota topper and made it work best I could. This presented the need for some cutting and fitting. The F350 bed has a taper to it towards the tailgate. This means the more square'ish Hilux bed topper overhangs a touch. So I had to cut a bit of width from the rear and redo the corners. Fortunately, it was close enough to only need some minor modification. A few rounds of trimming, filling, and sanding, and it turned out alright imo. Added some square styrene rods as guide rails. These will also give me something to attach the velcro to, which is the tentative plan for securing the top, while keeping it removeable. Attached some flares and filled in the stock mounting holes. Time to start sprayin! First I laid on 2-3 coats of leaf silver as a base coat, then laid on multiple coats of mica red. There... finished! A lil mockup with OMF's and Cepeks... To do: Clear coat everything already painted. Spray bumpers Spray mirrors Mount motor and electronics and of course... the interior. Here's what I'm working with. Modified Dinky setup. |

Thanks guys. @ Stan, yes, that's the Dinky Yota interior. It's not an exact fit, of course, but fits well enough to play the part after some trimming.

Update: Made some progress on this as of late. *Wired up the electronics and tested. Everything works as should. *Got the "glass" installed in the cab. *Wasn't happy with the dimension of the Dinky interior, so I decided to scratch one up. Used some 1:1 pics for reference and started cuttin up styrene. *Started painting the driver/passenger. Modifying the arm positions to better suit the interior specs. *Just started scratch building a new topper as well as I'm not (and have never been) completely happy with the mod job on the Dinky unit. Originally, the decision was made to go this route in the interest of time. I wanted to finish it quickly and I wasn't concerned about it being the best fit/finish as I knew I'd be beating it up on the rocks anyhow. May still use it as for that purpose alone, but now that interior work has gotten more dramatic, so must the topper as well. |

| Re: Full Throttle Class 1 TF350 Thanks man! I'm trying. Slow and steady she goes. Thank you! It's the RC4WD offering. It fits alright, but not perfect. Didn't want to seat well in the top of the cab so the windshield portion sits a hair low IMO. Bit of a ripple in the rear portion as well. Seems like it's just a hair big. But, for the sake of convenience, it fits good enough. |

Tonight's update. More interior progress, and started scratch'ing the topper. Driver and passenger are coming along, and I weathered some of the new scale accessories as they were too clean and shiny for my liking. Last edited by Full_Throttle; 01-08-2014 at 09:59 PM. | ||
