| Stretched and Comp Cut Jeep JK 2dr. Build
You're probably wondering what a stretched and competition (comp) cut Jeep is. (May be you aren't wondering but this info is for those that don't know.) Basically, the rear fenders are cut so that the rear axle can be moved back. The rear tires will extend beyond the body for a better departure angle. Usually the front axle will be moved forward as well for a better attempt angle. Here's a couple 1:1 Jeeps that have been stretched and comp cut. Now that you learned something new, onto the build! I have been waiting over a month for this Jeep body I bought from eBay! I found a package in the snow today. Inside the box I found the Jeep body! It was well worth the wait. Here's how it looked with axles and 1.55 tires under it: Of course within an hour of having the body it was under the knife... well actually I used sewing thread and a dremel tool. All of this will be covered with an aluminum panel. This panel will move the rear wheel well back as well as protect the body from rocks. Here's where the rear wheels will possibly be. I'm hoping that I can raise the front fenders and cut the grille like this: That's all for now! |

Another short n' stretched wheel base jeep. Love it. I recently finished a comp cut semi stretched YJ only cuz Tamiya had that body available. It looks like kc's no holds barred is being inspired by the same 1:1 Good luck, should be awesome |

Thanks! Updates! Both rear wheel wells have been cut. Using a piece of paper, I was able to make a template for the rock skins. The rock skins will cover all my cuts and protect the back end of the body from rock damage. After making the paper template, I was able to transfer the template onto a piece of aluminum sheet. I made two, one for each side of the body. Here's how the rock skins came out: I was surprised to receive a package from RPP today. Inside the box I found officially licensed Rock Krawler suspension links and RC4WD Ultimate 4 link mounts for the axles. Assembling the links and installing the link mounts to the axles was pretty basic stuff. I added the axles to the frame and I had a roller: Rear cantilever suspension will give me more room for the full interior in the Jeep body. Rock Krawler links Motor and transmission mounted up front. GCM Racing t-case on the center skid. (I'll probably get a GCM front mount for the tranny, my homemade one didn't come out as good) FLEX! The Jeep interior is amazing! That's all for now, thanks for following!

Quote: I have been working on the front of the Jeep. First I removed the front fenders and trimmed the grille for more tire clearance. The hardest part was removing the hood. The plastic is a lot thicker than the RC4WD Mojave bodies! I went through a ton of sewing string! (The black line on the hood is where I will make a cowl.) After removing the hood I cut the front fenders in half. The top halves will be glued to the hood and the bottom halves will be glued to the body. Because of this, the fenders will be higher than the stock fenders so that I can run larger tires, but keep the ride height low. Here's the top halves glued onto the hood: The hood will get hinged and I'm hoping that my electronics will fit under it, but I'm not so sure...

I thought that I would try to modify the headlights on my Jeep to look similar to Truck Lites. Here's how they look in real life! Here's the Truck Lites on my Jeep: I was also able to install my rock skins. They came out great and will protect the back of the Jeep from rocks and Traxxas Slashes. That's all for now!

I'm working on my Jeep again. I was working on my Slash, and found the tire carrier from an Axial Dingo cage. This looked like the perfect part for the tire carrier on my Jeep. With six rod ends and some spacers, I was able to build just that. Here's some pictures of what I built: Before Christmas, I had started working on the hood cowl. I layered some styrene sheets so that I could sand the edges down. Here's my progress so far: I also glued on one of the lower fender flares (that ugly crack will get filled): That's all the progress so far, thanks for following! |

Its been a while since I last updated the build! :ashamed:I really want to get this finished for the summer! So here are some updates! Well actually... nothing much has changed, but I did spray a coat of Plasti- Dip on the hood to see what needs sanding. I'm choosing to paint the Jeep with Plasti- Dip because of the matte black look. I have also decided to use RC4WD Compass tires and I ordered a set of Axial Trail Ready Beadlocks. I'll probably go with the Trail Ready's but I want to see how they look since they are 2.2 wheels inside 1.9 tires. I'm going to widen the stance of the vehicle so it will look similar to this terrible quality teaser pic: That's all for now! Thanks for following! |

Thanks! Finally got the Jeep painted! Well all except for the hood at the moment. I also got two Axial Trail Ready Beadlocks mounted to some RC4WD Compass tires. I modded the wheels so that they are wider by combining both of the included hubs. Track width is about 10.5". I really like the way the wheels and tires look! Here's some pictures: That's all for now, thanks for following the build!

Wheels and tires are mounted! I used 1.9 RC4WD Compass tires on 2.2 Axial Trail Ready Beadlocks. I measured the tires and they scale out to be around 45" tires! I also modified an Axial Dingo front bumper to fit the Jeep. A licensed Warn winch by RC4WD is mounted on the front bumper. I added some locknuts to the suspension links for a wheelbase of about 13". Track width is about 10.5". I'm going to order a Castle Creations SV3 ESC and probably a Rigid Industries licensed Vanquish light bar for the Jeep and it will be almost done! Thanks for following! |

I like the stance as it sits and really like those wheel tire combo. Do you remember what the WB was of the jeep at the start?
