Another TSAB build,'66 F100

Anyone that has ever seen my posts in the "what body do you want?" threads knows that the '61 to '66 Fords have always been at the top of my wishes. So,when Pro-Line came out with the '66 I knew it was time for another Slow Ass build.
I picked up a Dingo kit since it was the cheapest to get and, when the body was finally available, ordered that. Now that I have both in hand it's time to start getting a few things figured out.
Currently I have the kit built stock () but, that will be soon changing for fun and, some obvious reasons.
One of things I decided on was using the Dinky DDK.That's now here but,I'm waiting on some RRP gears for the split skid. Also waiting on some longer links so I can get the actual length figured out and,go from there.
Once the wheelbase is set I can start figuring other things like, wheels and tires.
The plan is to start with a basic C1 style rig and then, let it evolve from there.
Not much to see since it's still the stock chassis but, here's where it's at right now.

:lmao::lmao: You know me so well.

Hoping this one won't take near as long as the Scout.
I'm spending a lot more time at home now that I'm a full time father. This MIGHT work in my favor.Besides,I know the direction I want for this one. That should make it go a lot easier.

Yeah.Wasn't too sure about the stepside at first but,the more I look at it,the more I like it.Gives it a nice off road look."thumbsup"

Went and picked up some 98mm links today.Gets me a lot closer to the the proper wb.Just need to do a little dialing in to get it right where I want it.Once I get it it dialed,I can design some links that I'll machine when I can get some time.
Gears for my split skid SHOULD be here today so I can get that mocked up as well.

Here you go."thumbsup"
With the stock wheels and tires,it has between 1/2" & 5/8" sticking out per side.

Thanks to RPP Hobby,I got my RC4WD 3 link/CMS kit today.Got it installed but,now I'm having issues with articulation. It's almost as if the panhard mount on the servo mount isn't far enough forward.Panhard rod sits at an angle and hits the axle mount. Will have to do a little modifying to get it to clear.Oh well. That's half the fun of this hobby.

Added a front view pic.I think if I just bend it to clear I should be fine as long as I keep the same eye to eye length.Other option is to shorten all 3 of the front links to get the panhard perpendicular to the chassis.

Damn I didn't realize how good that body looked. I think this damn jeep body is gonna get scrapped.

I cant remeber the part number for those rod ends you are using at the skid... care to share? I like the looks of this body a lot. Hope to see it done up real good Pat. "thumbsup"

Also, I've got similar plans for my Dingo, looking for a proper cms... wish RCBros weren't having such a hard time getting theirs made again.

I'm wanting to get that same CMS kit. Will be interested in how you fix the clearance issues. Everything else looks really good.

Those are the old style Stampede rod ends.Part number 2742
The RC4WD CMS looks just like the Hand Bros one. It's almost like they used the 3rd link from the Honcho kit but the servo mount from the original kit.I have 98 mm links but,it looks like the whole axle needs to sit back further.Unforunately,if I do that with the included link,it will roll the axle too much and the mount will still hit.

Looks great so far, cant wait to see how it turns out. Any idea what tires and wheels you will run?

I still haven't fully decide on the w/t combo yet.Due to the wheelwell size,I'd kind of like to stay around the same size as the Ripsaws.I've already cut the fender lips off to gain a little more clearance.Would prefer not to hack them up too much.Time will tell.

Much better.Shortened the lower links about 3mm and swapped out the LONG rod end that RC4WD supplies for a Stampede one on the upper link.
I'll have to play around some more with the rear now to get the wheelbase finalized.Still waiting on some 106mm links to get here (should have ordered them from RPP ).
