Here are the pics of how I mounted my body onto the sliders.

The bolt coming through the slider from the inside.

And how it looks when the body is stretched over the bolt. I do not use a nut or anything to hold the body. The sliders are a 1/8" wider than the body wants to be, so the compression of the body squeezing the slider holds it in place. I have one of these per side, and when viewed from any angle other than the bottom they are not noticeable.

Let me know if you need more clarification on this.

As for your pinion angles, try to rotate the rear up as much as possible (within reason) to keep it above the bottom links so you wont get caught on it. Ideally you would like to do the same with the front, but with the stock c-hubs you are stuck with the pinion mostly flat (and at a steep angle) unless you want to eff up your caster (and sacrifice your steering). Adjustable c-hubs will allow you to rotate the axle housing while maintaining good caster though, so they may be worth a look when you upgrade.

i actually really like this method. how did you get the screw to stay in place?

another update. got the front and rear lowers created, also have the rear uppers where the uppers have the axle clocked so it wont bind. going to have to cut the drive shaft shorter. working on getting the front uppers the right length. right now my wheelbase is 10 1/2 inches. not bad for a start. i can adjust later if need be.

You are definitely going to be better off shortening the upper links on the front, that is a bit aggressive. It looks like you did that because the driveshaft slip is almost non-existent, but that's an easy fix by trimming off a few mm from shafts.

Otherwise it looks good. What are your plans for the bumpers?

Move your shock towers towards each other.
Use the existing holes towards the middle for the outer holes on the towers
That will lean your shocks towards each other I stead of away

yeah i have a lift kit ill most likely use that and put the rear shocks more over top of the rear axle. the front shocks seem to be ok might move them over one hole. my birthday is in 2 weeks i asked for some proline shocks and some pitpull tires we shall see what i get.

Default Updates!

so ive had all morning to get some work done on the FJ.

First thing i wanted to tackle was shortening the front upper links. got that done.

the next thing i wanted to do was chop the frame. i started by making small cuts and kept test fitting and test fitting. took some time but im happy how it turned out.

Default body mounting

so after i cut the frame my next task was figuring out how to mount the body. i liked the way how Ramination mounted his and i liked it and was set to copy it. but while working today i had another idea.
I took the rear bumper from the honcho and bolted it to the bumper of the FJ. this made it so the body slid into place via the frame.

here is the picture of the the bolts through the rear of the body.
cant even tell with the spare tire. and i plan on painting the bumper black any way.
Untitled

for the front I used the front bumper mount. i cut the mounting post off the bumper and put the post back into there hole and cut them flush with the frame cap. then i put velcro on them and the front of the FJ.
Untitled
i have since trimmed the excess since the picture.
I plan on using a stronger velcro in the future but for now it holds.

so to put the body on just slide the body from the rear on to the frame. then pull the front of the body and attach it to the velcro.

pretty simple design. what do yall think?
