A JK 2-door with purdy bits and stuff..... I've had a few projects on the go as of late, most of which have been pretty involved/slow..... Time for a quickie!!! ::2thumbs Taking direct inspiration from Sir Thatguys' quick Jerp/Yota/Jerp build I thought I'd throw together a bunch of bits I had laying about to make a fun lil Jerp! I had a yellow JK 2-door body on the shelf and I stole the GCM Skeleton chassis out from under Crusty the Jerp. The plan was to paint it matt white, no doors etc etc. I started off priming it with the usual automotive primer that I usually use, this lead to all kinds of fun and interesting paint reactions! Much rubbing back later I went with Tamiya primer and all was good. I then tried the white...... Resulting in many funky yellow blotches/bleed-thru. Time for plan B. Hello plan B!! COMMANDO GRRRRRRREEEN! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psf9a752e2.jpg |
Re: A JK 2-door with purdy bits and stuff..... The best match to the Jeep Commado green I could find was Tamiya AS-14 USAF Olive Green. This is a matt colour so many, many, many coats of gloss clear later it came out shiney! (I didn't want it to look like an army Jerp). I added a bit of a fun stripe too. For fun.... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps8b5835bd.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psab3fa9e0.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps48412ba7.jpg |
Re: A JK 2-door with purdy bits and stuff..... Grey barwork is the new black so I sandblasted the RC4WD front bar and repainted it Tamiya German Grey. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps9ca680cb.jpg I removed the moulded seats.. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps2d9c3abe.jpg Because I don't like them and because I wanted to fit this guy! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psa9038370.jpg |
Re: A JK 2-door with purdy bits and stuff..... Every seat needs a mount... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psb7c08858.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps641c21d5.jpg |
Re: A JK 2-door with purdy bits and stuff..... I also had a play with mocking up the ride height etc... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps5c8c5e9c.jpg |
Re: A JK 2-door with purdy bits and stuff..... The rear bumper is ready to go! It's an RC4WD bar that I sand-blasted, narrowed and reshaped at the ends and added a highlift jack mount... It copped a coat of grey to match the front. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps3df6bdea.jpg The hardtop copped a headliner courtesy of left-overs from the headliner in my 1:1 Jerp..... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps789a554d.jpg I painted and detailed the dash and made up some sill plates..... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psf7042021.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps951b7ec6.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psdfb36c5a.jpg |

Re: A JK 2-door with purdy bits and stuff..... It's not a Jeep without a cage! This was my first time working with brakeline, it was a learning experience.... I could only find coiled lengths and it was galvanised. So I had to straighten it first and strip the galv.. Fun! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps610c80e4.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psf2a22fe1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps15ef04c7.jpg |
Re: A JK 2-door with purdy bits and stuff..... I used the existing holes in the body as mounting points and tapped M4 threads into the ends of the cage... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psbe2ddc0c.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...pscbc1fb68.jpg It had to fit under the hardtop.. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psf7a731d6.jpg |
