Default Disco Stu likes Disco Music

Thanks to Customotive, I'm getting started on this awesome LRD.

The fit and finish is absolutely spot on. Jason does incredible work. I had him paint this one for me. It's loosely based on a truck that RCC forum member nevets made. He built his as a tribute to his full size Disco with a Komatec vacuum formed styrene body. I'm not sure he's still in the hobby, but I hope he appreciates seeing another tribute made. His was standard zebra, mine's fancy zebra.

If I recall correctly, this body is built around a Dingo wheelbase, but don't hold me to that. I'll update as I come across that information.

As a special bonus, Jason supplied his own chassis design. All anodized aluminum and built to be very strong. Pretty stoked to start getting this one together. I've got a set of YOTA II's that will look great under there.

Stand by!

Can't wait to see what you do with this one
I've always liked the looks of the disco1 and 2s but without the Europe only td5 they just look good sitting

Ha, totally. Should be a fun build.

TWO DAYS?! I'll never get it finished. Good news for you though, the Gelande II is finally going to make an appearance at Rose Point. 1 year later than expected. I'll see if I still have my Dingo links sitting around somewhere, as they're the same length. Confirmed.

Chris (Wrencher) is putting together some simple metal things for me.

I'm completely blown away. He really outdid himself on this build. I'm so stoked. Christmas came early.

That is awfully crisp for a Kamtec body. Sure there wasn't some styrene voodoo going on?

Not Kamtec, this is a custom fiberglass body made by a Vendor on another forum.

He's really nailing it. Everything's painted now and there's a bit more work done.

You can say that again!

Here's the latest update from Chris.

He started by integrating the rear bumper into a slider that protects the entire back end of the truck. Very clean.

He then made these cool little eyelets that will screw right through the body and into the bumper. Nice and smart!

Sliders integrated into the frame.

He also went a redid all the links with 1/4" and 3/16" rod. What a guy!

Brother that body is amazing! Wrencher is one of the best metal fab guys in the game. Will be a stunner for certain.

I'm going to re-quote that image for each subsequent update.

And there you have it.

Teaser until I get some time to button it up and build an interior.
