Default Mighty's "Tack Hammer" V2

This is a revamp of this rig

Build thread here : "Tack Hammers" 1.9 - RCCrawler

First I like the wraith chassis but even with the one off Stiffy from DMG it wasn't custom enough, so I decide to add a scx10 chassis. My main goal was performance and efficiency. I wanted a cage but wanted to be able to work on em in a split second so here is where I started.

I pulled the bottom rail out of wraith chassis and set it in and brainstormed.

After that I removed the front shock mounts from wraith chassis and trimmed a bit off back. Now I have a fully hinged chassis.

What this is going to accomplish is establish the difference between having fun working on one and the pain of trying to work on one. Nothing worse than working on a rig on the trail and having to pull everything out!
Stay tuned.
Big horsepower
Full allum axles
V8 motor and much more.

Looking forward to this one Steve. Your builds are always interesting, really like how you hinged the Wraith cage on this.

Love the idea. I was really thinking about doing a SCX Yeti cage build but this got me thinking. So simple and narrower than the Yeti cage by about an inch! Have you checked on the stock interior clearance with the position of the cage in relation to the skid? Could you still attach the interior to the cage? That would allow everything to stay in place.

I really really dig this idea.

Thanks guys!
Papa thanks man you keep me goin sometimes.

Harley, you know I can't stand to settle. Always trying to find the edge. Also you have seen me work on then during a G6 on the trail. The hinged cage should take care of that. I haven't checked clearances yet. I like a 40/60 front so it should be fine and I have had the interior in and it looks fine. I'll check.
Also I wanted to do the Yeti too but man the Wraith cage with a stiffy is hard to beat.

This should be my favorite to date

Thanks guys. Well Harley here is the verdict. As of now I can't use interior stock. Cage sets to low but I think I will build some brackets and hinge the cage off of them. Then I can raise cage 1.5" approx and solve the interior issue.

Here is a mock up of front axle on. Not sure if I'm gonna CMS or axle mounted servo yet.

Definitely gonna raise the cage. About an inch I figure. This will give me the look and allow me to use interior if I choose. Mainly doing it for look.

actually if you get the interior from the kid there is a lip that over hangs that you could put Velcro on under the hood. I used this to help hold in my battery for tumbles down the local dam. as for the rear you could put a metal bracing behind the seats and use that to hold the bars behind it?

looking forward to the completion of this rig.

before doing any of that you could go with a low clearance transmission like rc4wd or like this one which I can't remember who makes it off the top of my head.

Agreed but for the side view and overall look I do need to raise an inch. I like those ideas.

Here's where I'm at now. Leaving the cage lower just like in pics above.

I also have the V8 mounted and radiator attached also.

I have the wires tied up and attached to passenger side of tranny and the top of the doghouse built with extinguisher on

Ok got a lot more done today. Ready for minor changing and tuning now. Especially shocks.
Got the interior 90% done.

I also got pretty much the panels and tire mounted and ready for the first run.

I can see a trend starting. Good idea for a bunch of chassis that get sold without skids.

It's all about geometry and handling! Interested in hearing your feedback on the shock setup.

Got my winch bumper built today. My KMS was simple to swap around. It was a lay down model and a few screws later it is a stand up model winch.
Really likin this now!

Then it was time for a sway bar kit! I want a fast handling KOH rig that crawls well. I'm not sure the negative effects but after install I can tell she handles better. Can't wait to start tuning shocks.

"Scale Horsepower" only one way to think about it!"
