Really nice build Griz, had to go looking for it after I saw pics out there on the interwebs. I reallyike your thinking through this one, might have to make something for myself. |

Thanks Andy. Yeah, trying to keep a nice scale look but also keep it easy to work on and functional. Sometimes I think about how much the body pins on the hood bother me but keeping the body easy to remove for quick battery changes is important to me. Trying to stick with a balance on this one. Found some boats at Wallyworld for us. Even has a cool gator. Haha ![]() Unfortunately the airboat parts of it keep it from fitting on the roof so I stripped them down. I found some foam to put in them that will keep them floating even when full of water. ![]() Will work good I think. Mine is getting painted because the yellow doesn't fit with Dutch's theme. Cody said the yellow is fine with him. ![]()

I felt like Dutch needed something to go with the bug out theme. I had this RPM blower laying around so I weathered it a bit, added the snorkel scoop from Guido, and used a cap from the RTV to make a filter. I like the Road Warrior look it adds, plus I just love blowers sticking out the hood. Not everyone's cup of tea but I like it. Plus when the zombies come you want to git in a hurry. ![]() ![]() |

amazing build it looks sick. I like what you did with the floorboards I might have to make some myself as a set of rock sliders that I don't have.

Nobody puts together a better build thread together than you do Chris. I enjoyed the Grizzly4x4 style and personality for the entire four pages of "Dutch". it's good to have you posting again. I'm defiantly going to be shooting some that two part "Hot Rod Flat Black" you can count on that. Lots of great tips as usual nice piece of work.

Thanks for the replies guys! I appreciate it. Thanks for the compliments Norm. You are too kind as usual. Dutch worked great at Axialfest. I couldn't be happier with the setup and the reliability. My wife drove for one of the courses and enjoyed it so much she wants her own now. That's what I love about the G6 events is that it is something that I can now enjoy with my whole family. Rather than them just standing back and watching me. Expect to see a new build starting soon. I am working on pictures from the event. So why was this moved out of the Scx10 section? It's still Scx10 based right?

Thanks Eric! Yeah I really like the IROKs. The Rock Beasts were just a bit too small for the way I set this rig up, the IROKs fit the setup and have performed just great. The cut-N-shut Rok Lox were great for the terrain we ran at Axialfest. Last edited by Grizzly4x4; 07-24-2015 at 09:39 AM.

| ![]() Thanks DaddyJeep! I really like it! So during Axialfest 2015 my friend and I had the wives drive a couple stages and they had a blast. So much that my friend's wife bought a Rubicon from RPP at the event and Heather asked me to put one together for her. After some looking my wife decided that she wanted the G6 rather than the Rubicon. Yesterday we stopped by The Crawl Space and Ikaika had what we needed to get this build going. The Crawl Space is amazingly well stocked with crawler parts and I love talking to Ikaika. ![]() We picked up an Axial G6 Jeep SSD D60 axles SSD aluminum diff cover SSD Wraith Chubs and C's SSD wide tubes XR10 universals SSD steelie 10 spoke wheels Pitbull Growler tires Vanquish 225 and 725 hubs Axial aluminum link kit Hot Racing steel trans gears Wertymade bumper and a Hitec 7950 servo This is for stage 1 of the build. Electronics will be next. This is a lot of money in parts so I need to spread it out a bit. lol ![]() I'm glad she wanted the G6, I like the looks of this and with 5 Rubicons in our group already it's nice to see something different. ![]() I am just amazed at the selection and quality of the SSD parts from RPP Hobby. These D60 axles look amazing and are at a price point where I can put them on every rig I have. I love them!!! ![]() First up will be to build the XR width D60s ![]() |

Awesome Griz! Glad this hobby works out to be a family affair to you! The Crawl Space is amazing, the one visit I was able to make there makes me sad and happy I don't live closer. Sad because it is a great hobby shop. Happy that it's easier to resist when the parts aren't in front of you! |

I have to admit I get a bit anxious at times when they struggle with an obstacle, but I'm really trying. lol ![]() So true about The Crawl Space, if it wasn't such a long drive for me I'd be in trouble. ![]()

The SSD D60 axle is a seriously high quality piece. The wide tube inserts fit perfect just as the stock Axial bearings and gears. ![]() I wasn't clear on how to secure the tubes with the short screws they provided so I filed down the boss on the axle. That worked great and left less to get hung up on. ![]() Fit was great on all the parts, the knuckles fit a bit tight on the C's so I filed down just a touch where the knuckle pivot bushings sit to free them up. Much better than being too loose. ![]() The aluminum diff cover up front should reduce hangups, adds a bit of weight, and looks great. ![]() What a beautiful looking axle! I like the weight of it too. ![]() |
