Completed the bumper Finally got around to driving this truck. I'm very impressed with the suspension and overall crawl ability of this truck. Hands down the best crawling 1.9 I have ever made. It's flaws while driving are few. Got to come up with a new winch controller (fried it on 3c). Ordered a $6 esc from ebay that should hopefully make it usable. Added knuckle weights, a winch and scratches since the last update. |

Some more pictures from a recent event last weekend. Really performs well reminds me of driving my comp grade trucks with it's great climbing ability. Might add more scale touches soon. Thinking a rear bumper might add to it a bit a truck is never finished. Used a cheap $7 esc and BEC regulator as a winch controller, liking it so far. May upgrade it to something on 3c though it spools rope a bit slow on 7.2v for my liking in the heat of battle.. CVD's and high steer knuckles are on their way in to help tighten the turning ability a bit. Last edited by Mnster; 06-20-2015 at 01:55 AM. |

If you don't mind me asking... What light bar are you running on the front bumper? I love the size. It's super scale. Not to mention the entire rig is beautiful! I regret never doing a Comanche when I had the body sitting around. Looks like I've got some inspiration to buy another!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

It's the light bar from the Slickrock Vaterra. I had to cut a acrylic lens from a sheet of plexiglass, other wise it's all Vaterra. Works very well and fits the scale of what I was looking for.

Got bored today and started messing around with styrene pieces. I think I'll wind up putting my Maxtrax on top. Just have to paint the box either aluminum or black and figure out a way of attaching the trax. The box is held on with magnets so I can lift it off and can store ropes or whatever under it. Got some new treads to try. Still not 100% sure about them they do fit without rubbing and will obviously grip loose turf better. They are just huge and wide. Might experiment with them for a while been needing a more aggressive tread for midwest events. The Wildpeaks are just my favorite looking treads. |

The new front bumper turned out nice. I agree on the wildpeak looks especially on your rig. They look great under it.

Been having a few problems with this rig I'd like to address before the G6 events really heat up the summer.
So first I worked on the axle shafts. I'm replacing the CV's with two long side Wraith shafts that were TIG welded and reground to length. This means I need to run Wraith C-hubs and knuckles which should easily take care of my caster issues. Just waiting for parts currently. The issue with the bear trap skid plate was this sharp edge that seemed to just stall me on every ledge or sharp rock. Would just stop me dead and I would have to winch or strap. So I decided to make a Delrin skid plate to go over the current skid plate. HDPE would of been a more ideal material. But, I had lots of Delrin sheet on hand. With it's ramped edges it should greatly decrease the chance of me getting snagged. I'll sandwich the hardware between the two skids. Using only access holes to turn the screws if necessary. This lessens the chance of me snagging the hardware. Using Goop Adhesive I glued it in place. More build thread to come as parts arrive. |

Reworking tubing for more Scale points in the Rock Valley Crawlers Points system. Adding a stinger or grill guard lowers the points by -1 at the start. Ditched the tool box and added a Roll Bar and Jack for -2.5 points Next up is a new rear bumper and some Rock sliders. |

| Re: The Plastic Fantastic Comanche Thanks I brazed two nuts to the ends of the tubes at the bed and brazed in two screws into the tubes at the cab. Bolted solidly really stiffened up the body.

Looks really good! I really like those bumpers! Especially the rear bumper. Very clean design. Very scale. I have been considering seeking a local powder coating place to get a chassis & cage done I recently purchased. My experience with powder coating is that it's a much more durable and longer lasting coat. I have enjoyed following along. Keep it up! |
