| My REDNECK CLOD build via Mattzilla
Well 2015 is finally here and so is the time for me to finally build this Clod. I've been planning on this thing for a really long time too. I let Lue sit on my Clod body for a while until I told him to pull the trigger and then it has been sitting in my shop drawer waiting for other projects to finish. But finally the time has come. Why REDNECK CLOD? Because of my roots in Arkansas and the style bumpers I have on it. Plus what Redneck doesn't love an old Chevy truck. And I thought I'd make this thread a little more fun by having a REDNECK QUOTE section with each addition. Members are encouraged to add their favorite redneck quote or photo, but do please keep it clean. I'll start it with very own words from Sept. 13th, 2004. I was driving home with my utility trailer behind my truck. And get this, I just left the hospital with 3 fractures in my facial bones. There was a woman in the oncoming lane that hit a deer in the head with the bumper of her minivan, killing the deer. She stopped, I stopped, and a cop, who saw it happen too, had also stopped. I walked up to the woman with my fingers in my pockets, cocked my head to the side and said, "you gonna keep that?" Less than an hour later I was cutting up some deer meat for the freezer. OK, so onto the pictures and the truck. Right now it has a Dinky kit in it for the drive train. Its gonna be powered by a Tekin 412 3100kV/MMP and some 3S. I'll add more every few days as to what I'm adding. Hopefully I'll have this done by March for our next NWASC series in NorthWest Arkansas. |

Thanks to everyone on the compliments. Lue hit a home run on this one. He took my fifth grade style drawings a came to this conclusion. Imagine if my drawings were at least ninth grade level what this thing would look like.

I saw this at Lue's shop a while back and wondered.......with those bumpers, I reck'n its gunna be a hick crawler. Love the orange. Are you keeping the primered look? What about the hood, ain't a redneck truck without a cowl hood! Sweet build |

Hood cowl is coming soon. That is complements of Hoosierdaddy. Today I've added the motor, shocks, and wheel wells. I used an old DVD case for those pieces of white plastic. Scale bolts from LURC. I'm using 90mm Kings on all corners. As for paint, I'm thinking about flat white with a black strip and orange pin strip separation. Any other ideas out there? Redneck quote for the day, "has your family tree forked in the past 50 years?" |

I'm making the lower links. I use 1/4" SS for the lowers and 3/16" for the uppers. I use a primative method for making these links. I narrow the ends by putting the cut links in my drill press and using a mini grinder to decrease the threaded ends. Once done I use the ole hand die. I like Gmade ball ends where I can use them. Traxxas are use everywhere else. |

I hate that MZ tab on there, it would be so much better without it. The orange is awesome though and I like the cage work, the round hollow bars are redneck design exactly haha Good job on the scale bolts! |
