Default 1BadJeepBruiser's RC4WD Gelände II w/Cruiser Body Kit Build

I have to apologize for the delay in posting, I am packing for a cruise and will be heading out, plus I seen my dudes Matt, Rich, and John had theirs up already so I spent a lot of the day blasting mine on social media from my phone.

I finally sat down with the lap top so here goes! When I got an email a few weeks ago from John asking if I wanted to be a builder for a "new" kit I was at first skeptical...my car troubles have me tapped BUT then I noticed who else got the email. I saw n00b and Guy on there and got this feeling it might be a yota so I committed... and I am damn glad I did

The journey begins!

factory sealed to maintain that Toyota smell from a 70s Cruiser awesomeness

Instructions? Yeah I guess ill use those

They are nice and detailed!

Very detailed dash stickers

Interior pieces! WINNING

Everything is packed really nicely

Really what everyone is gonna be freaking out about! THE BODY

This thing is a smooth as a baby's ass, only one small mold line on each front fender

People were asking about how it compares to the skynet body...well it doesn't...it blows it out of the water! Look at the detail on the dash assembly, specifically the pedals

Started by cracking open the axles, they were greased but I like a little bit more

I like the Park Tools grease from my bike shop days in the squeezey tube

I also shimmed my front pinion for a tighter mesh with some traxxas shims, the rear axle seemed pretty good to me

Links built, don't mind the steering one, I had wrong ends on it...thats what happens when you build toy trucks after working your midnight tour and not sleeping

Some extra grease for the transmission

I missed out the Gelande II D90 This chassis platform is pretty awesome !

Guess we know theres gonna be fender wells, good thing cause they are must in my opinion

Little bit of grease for the T case too

drive get some collars, that should help out

rolling...

tossed a 645 servo in and a magnet mayhem I want to try out

I "loosely" assembled the body for you guys, I have to paint it still but won't be able to do that before I leave for my cruise so don't mind if something isn't installed fully. The fit and finish is 100% on everything

meshed grill, just needs an MTHead "TOYOTA" emblem

something I noticed, there is one error in the manual, I am going to do a sticky for these as a tips and tricks section but the manual calls for a 3mm screw...it really should be a 2.5x 6... you could use a 3mm but you'll need to enlarge the holes

as an Interior guru when it comes to my builds, this is hands down my favorite part of the kit...the detail is awesome. Cant wait to add my touches too it

and complete!

Love my 40 series Yotas

Took it outside for some pics, a lot of people on social media were asking about the size so I grabbed my Bruiser tf2 hilux hybrid truck to snap some comparison pictures

its #flexfriday right ??? haha

#TOYOTA4WD

Love all the lights, sharpee marker works great

There was a lot of questions on social media regarding the tires and wheels. I believe RC4WD was going for a somewhat "stock" looking approach. If that look isn't for you, there is tons of tire and wheels combos...dont let that discourage you from buying the kit. I took the liberty of installing a few different tire and wheel sets for you guys to see. I didn't have a lot of options because most of my trucks have 1.55 stompers They are my favorite tire ever

Stock

OG clone 1.9s with SDI tires

SSD 1.9s and Axial Trepadors...Like this look a lot actually

BUT my all time favorite tire and wheel combo...1.55 RPP/Gear Head ENKs and 1.55 RC4WD stompers <3

1.55 steelies and pit bulls

Axials and Irocs

Locked Up RC and Rc4WD Gladiators 1.9

Locked Up RC and 1.9 pits

DCII 1.9s and stock tires

Also thinking about this greenish brown color...like a poop green lol because I like weird colors

I wasn't typing out a thread like this on my iPhone...it would been riddled with grammar and spelling errors. My phone changes Gelande to "Gleaned"... I mean what the hell is "Gleaned"?

You been stalking my facebook page pretty accurate description, but you forgot to put "blown up" in front of Subaru.

But seriously, Facebook shit I can do one handed on phone and requires minimal text/wording as no one is really reading it and pics are just uploaded with a few clicks. I can literally do it while driving...not that I should be, last thing I want to do is have to tell Dean I wrecked his truck because I was posting about toy trucks

Thanks for so many great pics Mike. I have to say, I've been on the fence aboot rc3wd and their direction with many things, but after seeing a few of these threads w/ this new body, I'll give them the 4th wheel back. They stepped up the game in a BIG way with this body. They have found someone to produce a very nice model body. I'll get one as soon as they are available.

Colors for you- I remember the yellow/gold-ish body color and the robin egg blue color, both with mandatory white tops!

I like this tire/wheel combo the most.

What a fantastic looking body! I'm fighting back not to push the "Add to cart" button.

Glad I could help, sometimes it can be hard to do a thread like this when you have a few other guys all doing one. The hot topic seemed to be tire and wheel combo so I thought I would do my best to show some different combos with what I had available to me.

Where do the electronics go? I don't think I've seen that yet.

I was just going to pull the trigger, until I saw the $73 shipping guess i'll wait until RPP gets them in stock and order from there.

There is a fuel cell like the TF2 for the RX and try in front of that for the Esc and then a battery tray too.

I just sent an email to John for you guys regarding shipping cost, let's what happens

I think the 1.55 wheels and tires look strange because this body is bigger than 1/10th (or even 1/9th) scale. So its like running some 13-inch wheels and tires on FJ-40. Also the rear wheel wells seem very tight as compared to the HUGE front fenders. It looks way better with 1.9s and larger tires. Bet if you opened up that rear wheel well it would look even better.

I noticed the wheel well sizes myself. The front opening is very large.

That is the way FJ40s are from the factory. Most people are used to seeing them with the chopped rear tub. It's the same thing with early model broncos.

As far wheel size goes, 1.9s in 1/10 is a 19" rim so the majority of our builds are actually not wheel size correct in most cases. The body being 1/8 scale definitely puts 1.9s in a better proportion. I don't think the ENK 1.5s and stompers look bad though
