Default Dale Larsen FJ bouncer build

To start this off i did some trading with PIMPINROCKS and got him to build me up a chassis to replicate a rig one of my favorite drivers in the SRRS, Dale Larsen. This is his FJ BBC rig he beats the $h!% out of.

I decided on this build because I've always been a fan of FJ's and I haven't really seen but one RC version of this one ever. So Ryan and I did some trading for some of my curries and he hooked me up with this chassis and body as a slider with brand new scx axles. Cant seem to find the pics of how it was when i got it out of the box but heres one of the chassis before the last couple of bars were added and before paint

Its made out of solid rod and based off of a wraith skid. It will be running and scx trans and gonna be just under 13in wheelbase when i finish messing with the lengths. hoping to keep the COG decent low as well as keeping the weight bias 60/40.

First things had to do when i finally got time to sit down and look at it was extend out the front a 1/4in. I had to do this not only for ride height and wheel base, but also because my current drivshafts were too long for the front. I did this by simply adding traxxas jato rod ends to the skid side of the links. It put me at just under 12 3/4" wheel base and in between 2 1/2' and 2 3/4" ride height loaded down with all electronics and tranny.

Before stretching it out

and after

It looked so good that i decided to go ahead and install tranny, drivelines and all the electronics and give it a small test run in the house.

Gonna cut up a g6 bikini top to se as a rag top cover for the back half.

Tons of FLEX!!! limiting straps are in the future.

Sittin low and weighted down

The TTC Baja Claws still clear at full compression

This is the specs for anyone wondering what my setup is. Will be changing as i have a lot of parts coming in.

-Bone stock axles
-scx shocks
-custom links
-scx tranny w/ 90t steel spur and HR steel internals
-Tekin 35t pro hound wound
-MMP waterproofed
-CC BEC (to be waterproofed)
-Savox 1230sg waterproofed
-1.9 TTC Baja Claws
-1.9 Motoworx LE 8 holes with MThead rings and scale hardware
-junfac hardened steel drive shafts
- 2.2 3s lipo powered

Stay tuned more to come as i get time and parts

Great start for sure!

I saw the 1:1 in Hot Springs a few years ago. That driver didn't like to go slow.

Got in the mood to do some fab work today. So i started with the RC4WD fuel cell. I want to decase the MMP and run it in here to have one less eye sore.

Didn't quite fit so i got the 'ol Dremel out. I cut out the rear mountain bracket holes with a diamond burring bit so that my wires would clear and also to have surface that wouldn't cut the wires. This is what i got afterwards.

And from the rear where you can view it you'll only see the battery leads which I'm fine with.

The way the chassis sits on the rear deck, I don't have quite enough space for the fuel cell to sit-down where I want it. So i got out some galvanize flashing and cut me out a mounting plate. Ill paint it and hot glue it down later. And the fuel cell will be velcro'ed down to it.

Gonna look good

Next on the fab list was a cab back to block the view of the saddle mounted batteries. So I did some measuring and again cut out some galvanized flashing

And I decided to velcro it down to be able to move it and swap batteries easily. Mounted my Rx to it with velcro as well.

And the floor pan for the interior.

Am I the only one having issues with the pics? Most of them are skewed or squished, except for the fuel cell. Unless it's supposed to be rectangular.

Me too can't wait to get some time to finish it and actually get it on the trails. Ive had it together and running in the house to test the suspension and all. Got a few new parts to throw in and some suspension tuning and then it'll be ready. My painter is in Spain for 2 weeks so it'll be a bit before i get it painted.
