So it's been a minute since an update, and I feel I should tell you that I discovered a rocky creek across the road from my house, which makes a killer local crawling spot for all of 1 person of me lol. I took hot-mess Hilux out there the other day to see how it drove and I just made a mess of things... While it completely owned on terrain that I don't plan on beating it on, I managed to get the bodiless rig all dirty... Ahhh no ya don't!!! Get back in there ya swine! ...Cats seem to like Tiyotes... ...Mrs Reflektr will never notice... Potassium is a very important part of flexing. We take flexing very serious in my house. |

It looks like I'm all ready for paint and body work so I did a bit of paint shopping the other day and this is what I came up with... There's a method to my madness... Candy green over black...? Ok, why not... Much better. Plenty of weight to keep tipsy-truck tire-side down. Don't worry, I'm not using all of it lol. Figured I'd experiment with weighting the wheels so see if I could lower the cog a bit. |

Looks good man! Cant wait to see the paint! I agree with the Yota axles. I really dislike how the scx10 axle housings look. I think i might be using narrowed wraith axles from now on if i use axial parts. |

Granted you can't run hog-wild brushless on 3s with them like the upgraded scx10's, but I think some people think you can, and wind up grenading them and it's the axles fault. But anywho... Going fast is overrated. That's why I got into crawling in the first place | |

That's a good looking truck. Good looking green egg too. My smokers are on a slightly larger scale.

Thank you sir! Plenty left to do with interior and trail-tuning, etc... And I love my green egg! It's fun to mess around and try new things with it. By larger scale smokers do you mean trailers? |

Hey, that's pretty slick looking now! Looks similar to a diesel tank off an International.

Thank you! That interior came from Dinky R/C. It goes for about $28 US dollars on their website. The only things it does not include are seats and a steering wheel. Aside from that, the door panels, back of the cab, dash and floor pan all line up quite nicely with the existing holes in the Hilux body.

After finding a good way to attach the body to the chassis without drilling holes through it, I figured I'd take Penny for a little test drive down at the local rock pile... Which just happens to be across the street... How convenient! * * I seriously tried to be on my best behavior and not beat the pee-pee out of my near-complete project. Even though the pictures may not show it, this spot is pretty gnarly for a 1.9 scale truck - Especially one you don't want to beat the living crap out of. I'm kind of mad at myself for even attempting it, but at least now I know the truck's limits in it's current state, and Penny rolled away with only a few minor scratches ; ) |

Made a little more progress on Penny... Then some not-so-much-progress... Then figured out hoe to regain the not-so-much-progress... So all in all, it's a wash...* I'll take it! Had to cut down an extra mip so it would fit between the transmission and transfer case. For future reference: If you are needing to shorten one for use between the axle and transmission - Don't do what Donnie Don't does and don't cut it top short... These are NOT splined all the way through.* Meaning if you cut it short enough and push it in all the way up to the hair, the splines won't catch and you will have a... Slideshaft... Not a driveshaft... Which is no good for tiny truck activities. Anywho! Short shaft! * This I can live with. * This I can't live with... * I'm going to either have to find a different way to mount that motor and tranny, or slice down the GCM plate...* Having those shock mounts on backwards is going to make me lose sleep... |
