SteveC6R's G2 D90 Defender I have had a RC4WD Gelande II for a year now that has been a shelf queen. A couple months ago when the new D110 released I got renewed interest in my D90. I decided it was time to take it off the shelf and get it dirty. This isn't so much of a "build" thread but more of what I did etc. I purchased it from a guy that had built it as a shelf queen also and never ran it. It was box stock and was painted red. It also had a Novak 35t motor/esc combo in it. I re-painted it black, added some more detail to the interior and added my own touches. The biggest thing being I found a guy in the UK on a forum that custom makes Defender bumpers out of billet aluminum based on a friend of his 1:1 rig and a set of RC4WD Punisher driveshafts. A pic of what it looked like when I got it. A few after I re-painted and then it sat on a shelf.

Re: SteveC6R's G2 D90 Defender I decided it needed a couple upgrades to get it more to my liking. First off were a set of King 90mm OD shocks. Two of the stock shocks were bad about sticking and the Kings are super smooth. I didn't really like the military look of the Tango Down wheels and the Mud Plugger tires. While scale looking they are a bit too skiny for my tastes so I went with the RC4WD Classic Disco wheels wrapped with RC4WD 1.9 MTZ super sticky tires. I also took the Novak system out and replaced it with a Holmes Hobbies 27t Torquemaster Pro and Axial AE2 esc. I also installed some inner fenders to add to the scale realism. Tough Armor swing out rear bumper with some gas cans. And some poser pics. :-bd

I've been wondering what the 90 looks like with those wheels. That's just pushing me closer to the edge. Looks nice. I like the black paint w/the alu panels too.

Re: SteveC6R's G2 D90 Defender A little proof that it did get dirty today on its maiden run. Things went well on its first run and I was rather impressed with its capabilities. I need to do a couple things to improve it but overall I'm happy with it. I'd also love to find a better way to mount the body instead of having to screw/unscrew four screws to do a battery change.
