| My "Little" Mog Camper
I've been planning on doing a Mog camper project since last year's AxialFest and I figured it was time to get going on it, seeing as how Axialfest 2015 is 4 months away. This is my inspiration... I found this picture on a blog from Australia and just knew this was the one I wanted to build. Parts list, thus far.... -DSPro Milex Cab! -Axial SCX10 rail set -Vanquish Curries for the SCX10 -Vanquish SCX10 Titanium Link Kit for the Curries -Vanquish Panhard and 3 Link kits for the Curries -Vanquish SCX10 VVD's -Toyzuki Low CG Motor Plate -Dinky RC Split Skid T. Case -Transfer case Bomb Proof internals from Super Shafty -Portal Axle boxes from Shapeways -Custom Stub Shafts for the Portals machined by Chris at CreationFab -Scale camping bits from HoyFab Crawlers -MIP's for the main drivelines -SDI 4x4 driveshaft for the motor plate to t. case driveline -Hitec 7950TH for steering -Dinky RC Cantilever set for the SCX10 for the rear suspension -A Megaf**kton of styrene I haven't decided what motor, ESC or any of that yet. First I talk to my friend Ryan at DSPro and picked up a cab (last year). We started talking and he mentioned that he was thinking of offering a laser cutting service for styrene. Soooo I drew up some 1:10 scale schematics based on the real 1:1 Camper and sent them over to him with a "small" pile of styrene. He sent me these the next day... They turned out really nice.... (these first sets of pictures are really bad, excuse my crappy phone pictures) |

Put the Dinky Split Skid transfer case together. What's a Mercedes Unimog without some Genuine Mercedes-Benz lube? Quick mock up on the chassis rails...I think it looks pretty good so far. |

Started getting the camper box put together. This thing is so big I decided to go with some square tube to save on weight. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I finished the outer skin of the Camper Box. The 1:1 has small flip up windows on the sides, but I'm making some sliding side windows to keep things interesting. I used some 3.2mm styrene U channels for the "glass" to slide in. Quick mock up picture to make me feel like I'm actually getting something done... |

I've been reinforcing the sides... ...and putting in some window sills. Waiting for a few pieces to get here to finish up the portal boxes, finish the drivetrain and organize the electronics. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

How are the portal boxes? Saw them on shapeway today and was thinking about them for my unimog project.

They are made well and look nice. You need to do a lot of axle mods and stuff, but they look like they are going to work out well. I have Chris at CreationFab making me some custom axle stubs and hopefully they will be done this week so I can give an accurate account of their operation. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I will sir! It won't be a comp truck for our comps, but it should be fun for G6's and trail runs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Impressive list of parts Hope you have something planned for the inside of your big box. Will you cover your support structure inside? Very interesting build . Every time I see a nice styrene build I'm tempted to ask how well it holds up to roll overs. I supose, if you can build it you can repair it as well....I digress, sorry Watching this . Have to check out shapeways too, never heard of them |
