| Rock Rail rebuild
I've built and rebuilt this crawler a few times in several different drivetrain variations but this time I'm shooting for a little more scale in chassis width and wheelbase, also I may go with a little less motor the 10.5 turn was more sand rail than rock rail. Here is a chassis shot, I've already built tube bumper and spare tire carrier. This time instead of a stock r1 skid I'm going to use an axial skid which will give me an overall extra 1/2" of width. Drive train this go around will be narrowed wraith axles and wraith transmission. I will try to dig up a picture before the tear down.

Can you take a shot from underneath? Your front bumper is really sweet, any plans on needing to discard this one and making another? |

Finally narrowed my axles and decided to mount the servo on the axle. I would say I cheated on the narrowing cause I only narrowed the long sides of both and though it doesn't look nearly as good as properly narrowing both sides you do end up with a near same result. I fit the axles to the cage and decided on just under 12" wheel base is near scale but still trail usable.

Reused the powerstroke shocks... Smooth like butter. And went with about 2.25" of belly clearance, which is about .5" more than my last 1.9 r1 build. So with overall dimensions of 11.75" wheelbase, 2.25" belly, and 7.5" hex to hex axle width I'm hoping to find a nice compromise between scale appearance and actual rockability.

Is that an ax10 skid? What are your links? That thing is looking sweet! I can't wait for my chassis to get here...

Yep just a aluminum ax 10 skid. I like the width over the stock skid. But you do have to add width to all the center braces if you go that direction. The rear links are stock wraith uppers and lowers. The front are custom using 1/4" aluminum rod.

Used the r1 battery tray and mounted it in the front under the hood. this will keep keep the weight more biased to the front. A 1300 3s lipo fits nice and tucked away. The tranny mounted spur gear toward the rear will keep the cab open in case I decide to put an interior in one day.

Here's a better picture of the wheels. They are team integy wheels so as always they look good but don't have the best machining.... I would recommend running a tap through every beadlock screw hole before mounting otherwise you swear your way through mounting tires.

Tucked everything behind the cab for a clean look and opens up interior possibilities.
