Default RC4WD Gelande with Cruiser body, rust and weathering.

I've been experimenting with rust and weathering on my Cruiser. I'm pleased with the way it turned out, here are some pictures and video.

Super nice!
IMHO to be perfect you will need:
1) A full lights kit
2) The driver
3) The rear mirror
4) A spare wheel
5) A winch
6) An exhaust pipe...

1) It does currently have front and rear lights

2) Driver, done!

3) Rear Mirror, need to find a suitable one.

4) Spare wheel would be cool on the back!

5) I have a winch, will fit it soon.

6) Exhaust pipe, any ideas, would I have to make it or are they available?

Other mods I have in line are leaf springs and hub caps and some more interior work including rubber matting.

Cheers.

What is the process for weathering the body and metal? Thanks, it looks like a job very well done

Two questions:

1. Where did you get the TOYOTA/LandCruiser logos? I've been looking everywhere for those.

2. How did you strip the chrome from the blinkers? I tried ammonia, bleach and drano.

You can find the emblems on Ebay if you search "rc4wd cruiser". They may come from Germany. Some of the others seem to sell out pretty quickly.

Super Clean degreaser will remove chrome without damaging the plastic if you soak the parts.

Hi, I used two methods, the first was a rust effect kit called Scenic Rust. I used that mainly on the body. On the bumpers/chassis etc I scrapped up some rust from a drawer of rusty old nails and applied it with some of the bonder from the effects kit.

I also used a Tamiya weathering kit.

Cheers.

Hiya,

I got the badge kit from a seller on ebay called groundbutton. He sells out pretty quick it seems so I messaged him to let me know when he was re-listing.

I tried to strip the chrome with bleach but it didn't touch it. In the ended I sanded them and applied matt black paint.

Cheers.

Good tips! I may have to try both because painting my rust on doesn't really seem to look as good.

Hi, yes they are, I found a used set on Ebay. I've also got some hubcaps to paint up but can't currently work out how to ensure they don't all off.

He's a good model isn't he, it took me a while to find something that would fit nicely as normal 1/10 scale figures look far too small.
