Default 👁👁My newest 1.9 Rig, a 34 Ford Truggy!👁👁

I bought this rig off of pimpnrocks this week and he had it set up as a 2.2. I wanted it as a 1.9 scaler so I started tonight and got it mocked up and running..here are a few before and after pics....more to come!

well it had issues with being a 2.2 rig...extremely floppy on the trail, it was better suited as a rock crawler when it was 2.2 rig with soft shocks and tons of flex. My terrain here is more trails and non rocky hills and such.

Here it flourishes as a 1.9 rig, took it out this morning and it did extremely well. I have plans on doing some upgrading to the shocks I put on and upgrading the links, I have already changed the front geometry for the links and servo location. It wont ever see a winch on the front so I modified the front chassis area to gain servo clearance on upward travel. I plan on running a light bar where the winch was.

I have switched out the front chubs and knuckles since the above pics were taken, now there is axial high clearance knuckles and strc chubs and axial steering links on it which gave me much better steering angles, its more scale steering now.

I really like the look of the wheels I put on, it fits the old school theme of the truck nicely I think..the 1.9 tsl's with CI Double Deuce foams work very well..I also modified the firewall panel to hold a larger battery but still kept it over the front of the truck. I currently have a 3s 30c 4000 mAH Lipo in it, running an AE-5 ESC and a Holmes Hobbies 13t crawl master sport motor. I have the ratio at 87/14 which is 6.21:1, it crawls fantastic!

once I have all the modifications made and am happy with the performance, I will tear it all down and have the chassis powder coated, probably silver like it is now..

well i made a mistake on my title and said its a 37, its actually a 34 ford duh! I had to put lights on it and and made the tail light period correct by putting one on the left rear lol.
I think when i tear it down for powder coating this winter I will paint the head light housings silver...I used spacers that I shaved down to fit the triangle shaped area connecting the fender to the hood...then I notched the headlight bases to sit over the top of the body so they wouldnt turn side to side, even though its not technically the correct mounting....

couple new pics... I decided to mount a couple old school fog lights to the front. I really like how they turned out, I had these on a truck when I was in high school..

I also changed out the rear links and link mount...and put in brass crawl tubes from custom crawl...very nice tubes!

Nice rig!!! i'm actually working on one as well ;) called the Beater! Seems the Ford 34 are getting popular now that the body is discontinued!

Looks great bud!! Love the changes you've made. I ran it on 1.9s for a trail run and just felt they were a little small. I have to admit, really like the way you have it looking on that setup!!

Thanks! It's really working very well this way..i am surprised how well it did today at our local hobby shop's crawler course they are building...

The tsl tires really hook up in the dirt and loose stuff..it will damn near climb vertical! It does belly drag very slightly over some of the obstacles on the course but it is no problem.. I am going to put a stronger servo and BEC on it and it will be done for awhile

Well I had sold this rig off a long while ago to Eddie at Crawler Innovations.... I have made a deal for it to return to me, just the chassis though.. I will be building her up again and making her a companion to my 34 ford 6x6... thanks again Eddie!

Got her back in the mail a few days ago and started rebuilding..new wraith skid, scx10 trans with CI extended outputs, Holmes Hobbies 35t Torque Master motor. Thinking about a 12 inch wheel base with the original size Pit Bull Rock Beast 1.9 tires..

I got lucky and scored a new parma 34 ford body off of ebay, then promptly screwed up the front fender cuts around the chassis

I couldnt get another body so I altered the chassis a little, turned out pretty good and so then I masked off the body and painted it. I used a darker blue that the original and I used black for the radiator and fenders/running boards like my 6x6 build. I think it turned out pretty good.

Now all I need are axles, shocks, links and drive shafts to have a runner!

That's bad ass! It's not often you see Mayhem wheels anymore. I love them.

I got some parts in today, traded for a used scx10 stock front axle and mocked it up to get my links set up like I wanted. I think it turned out pretty well and has enough clearance for the servo without trimming anything. I used a bomber plastic servo mount and mounted the servo on the back side of it to move the servo away from the front of the body. I am pleased how it turned out.

I set it up on my tool box to see what wheelbase I wanted, the pic with the rear tire closer to the body is 11.3 dingo wheelbase and the longer one is 11.75 wheelbase. I think I like the shorter dingo wheelbase better. Opinions??
