| Czech yourself before you wreck yourself. A tale of a Unimog.
I've wanted to build a Unimog for a long time, so why not a hardbody Unimog from the Czech Republic since I dislike lexan bodies? I was told I am the first one to get this body in it's higher detailed form which has mirrors, snorkel, separate front bumper with hitch, separate grille, wipers, windows, drivers side fender vent, and a few other odds and ends. Pretty cool. I am in no rush to build this since it's spring/summer and I'd rather be doing outside things - so I'll work on it as time and rainy days allow. Frame/skid/trans is SCX10. Axles are RC4WD Yota II with all hardware replaced with Locked Up RC scale hardware. Shocks are 100mm RC4WD RRD. I have no idea what direction I'll end up going, most likely tube rear, boatsides, maybe an exo-cage up front. I know I will make new shock hoops front and rear. No clue what tires I want to use yet either. Two pics for now because my phone died and just because. |

should be sweet. I'd like to see more pics of how the yota axles fit under the scx frame It makes me consider swapping in a set for the scaleness

Rainy past few days so I started building cab support and cage. I opted for 1/8" solid rod to give it a larger overall feel in scale size. RC4WD Warn 9.5cti winch mounted on the front bumper. I swapped the 100mm Rock Krawler shocks for some 90mm Kings - the 100mm were a bit too long for the panhard geometry. Still A LOT of work to go and construct a rear cage. |

Any progress on this? I was considering one of these bodies for when my lexan one gives up (if that ever happens).

I dont usually work on these too much when its warm out. Although if its raining I might. Bodies are awesome. They do a great job and they're actually quite thick. | |

I literally blew the dust off what little chassis fab work I did, rebuilt some of it, and spent a few hours making more. All 1/8" solid rod. I might add a few more things once I see where I'm at. I'm going to use SCX axles instead of Yota II since those proved to be a pain to set up the way I wanted. Plus I have 65-million SCX parts in my hoard. I ordered 5 of RC4WDs new Michelin ZXL 1.9 tires and 5 RC4WD 1.9 Hummer wheels for it also. Those should fit the look I'm after. |

Any idea how the size compares to the Tamiya unimog body? I have a lexan body but would LOVE to have a hard body if it will fit my current set up which I built around the lexan Tamiya body.

| Re: Czech yourself before you wreck yourself. A tale of a Unimog. I believe it's based off the Tamiya cab but isn't exactly the same side. I think by the rear wall of the cab is slightly shorter. It's definitely a durable hardbody, it's all ABS and pretty thick. I had to wait a little longer for this one since it was the first one they made with some refined features, so I was told.

Assembled the wheels and tires and did a mock up with everything to see where it sits and what I need. I still have to make a few more mounting tabs for accessories and the battery but it's looking good. I need to swap out the springs in the front for a stiffer spring rate, but it's not bad. I'm running an old Hand Bros CMS/panhard on the front and a rear panhard as well just to keep it nostalgic. |

I have the cab painted and everything done except electronics put back into it. Now that winter is here I will probably button everything up soon.
