Defender 110 Double Cab I've been inspired by some of the builds on here and decided to try my hand/learn plastic skills.... Starting with the easy part http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/07...394ca637c7.jpg http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/07...d4e3620821.jpg http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/07...25c890f7a5.jpg Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
Re: Defender 110 Double Cab And now on to the hard part. Started with a d90 body, the same one rc4wd uses. Got some sides from Italy, 3D printed cab back, hood bulge from the UK, and some string to chop things up. http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/07...46f745810e.jpg http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/07...8fb2317079.jpg http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/07...96ab401588.jpg http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/07...0484211e1a.jpg http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/07...6c9affc17f.jpg http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/07...916b9dc769.jpg Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Re: Defender 110 Double Cab Damnit Sam, I told you to take it easy on these axles! http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/07...bebd70565a.jpg Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
Re: Defender 110 Double Cab http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/07...b9238c51f1.jpg This guy Sam is such a jerk face. I can't even finish one rig before he breaks another. Dude decided to put 4S on the Revolver, do some donuts in the living room, and manages to back it into the dining room table, bending the bumper. Jeez. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Re: Defender 110 Double Cab Nice start! So hard to find good help these days, lol. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
Defender 110 Double Cab Finally gotten the roof windows filled in to my satisfaction, and the hood coming along nicely. Next comes the bed detail. It's still in the rough. Summer progress is slow (beers and bbq are calling!) but progress nonetheless. Still on the fence about making a tailgate - may just leave it off. Real happy with the depth of the bed. http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/07...d69ef7a163.jpg http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/07...895c060186.jpghttp://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/07...373f7f74ac.jpghttp://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/07...4165c51e54.jpg Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
Re: Defender 110 Double Cab Things looking sweet I tried looking for the sides but only found the roof part lol |

It's here: http://thescalerstore.altervista.org...p/cPath/27_198 Good stuff, though the 3d printed parts are much better than the resin parts. Needs a good bit of fabrication but looks like it will really turn out well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Re: Defender 110 Double Cab Thanks and can't wait to see more of this rig |
Re: Defender 110 Double Cab Very nice rig/body work."thumbsup" |
Re: Defender 110 Double Cab Skipping forward a bit.... I finished getting the body sanded, primed, and generally up to an acceptable standard. There are still a couple of things that aren't exactly perfect but I'm probably the only one that can see them. Plus, at some point you have to decide that it's good enough. I'm not usually so uptight, but having built the body I guess i got a bit more critical. I shot some paint yesterday. TS-9 for the green and TS-26 for the roof. This is over Tamiya Fine Surface Primer Light Grey. After the first coat i sanded a few places with 400 to get them smoother and then laid down about 5 coats over the course of the day letting them set in the sun. Overnight it got nice and hard. On the chassis front, I'm running a MMP and a Holmes Puller Pro Stubby 2200kv. This little motor has gobs of torque is honestly the smoothest starting brushless in my arsenal. It's a gem and I would highly recommend it for any heavy scale rig where you want precise control. |

Re: Defender 110 Double Cab Beautiful! Great colour choice sir. Looks like you got the experience you needed. I'd love to see some outdoor shots. |

Meanwhile, I decided the paint wasn't quite right so I pulled it all apart, and laid down a whole bunch of clear. Much better now. Also got a fab little 3D printed bronze infused stainless-steel trailer hitch from Shapeways. Wh knew there was even such a thing? but six threaded holes in the bumper later and its snug and ready for dragging things. Also used my alltime fav adhesive (black shoegoo) to mount this and that where it needed to be. Shock towers now hidden in crates. Also also, pulled the HH Puller Pro Stubby 2200 out for use in a GCM Skeleton China bodies JK wonder, and replaces it with a HH Torquemaster Expert. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...bbea086838.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...0743692bf1.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...a1effb7622.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...6369cdba72.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...70284fe5a3.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...5347ed716e.jpg |
Re: Defender 110 Double Cab Nice build and precise work with quality parts! That chassis is a good choice for build like this and those crates will fool everyone! "thumbsup" |
Re: Defender 110 Double Cab Loving the color, the extra clear make it look more real and deep.... |
