Default Szczerba's Comp Buggy

Found a chassis on eBay caught my eye. I knew I wanted it slammed and short wheelbase. And would probably only be keeping the top part of it.

This is how I got it. Only a face a father could love.

Of course it was broke when I got it. Brake line and shotty steel sorta brazed together.

Fixed that and then redid the skid. Thought that was cool but links way to shortie. Time to rethink it.

Grabbed an scx frame and skid, mocked up the wheelbase in my old trusty jig I designed a few years ago and started hacking up the chassis.
Trying to keep this truck Class 2 legal but I dunno if it will qualify as a "stock truck modified" or not.
10.75" wb
2.2 CI 6-Bolt wheels on 1.9 treps. Probably need to move to 2.2 section.

Came up with this. Frame is cut, sectioned, re aligned, clearanced and ready to roll almost laying frame on the axle housings.

Bumped

Drooped

Short is beautiful! Your builds are a blast to follow. Looks like another killer build in the works.

Believe it or not, I have about 8 hours in hacking and reconfiguring this chassis. Shortened, cut, rebent, etc. Redid the passenger side front shock hoop last night.

Same here. Most said the chassis looked silly but I'll show them with a proper rebuild !

I really liked the lines of the cab. I may even replicate the look with 3/16 DOM and scrap the brakeline.

This is the smartest thing you've ever said.

I am impressed with this little buggy, it's fugly but should be a definite performer with all of the suspension mod you're doing. Carry on

Was the original chassis worth saving?

Meh...

Search #szczerbabuilt on Instagram to see the CMS action tuning. And all my other builds.

A keen eye would take note of the passenger front shock hook re working and 100mm RC4WD scale shocks installed.

The ring gears on the opposite of stock scx axles. Chubs and lockouts were a wicked tight fit. Minor dremeling of housing ends was needed. No biggie
3-link upper mount is about 3-5mm further back than VP mount. Had to shorten the upper. No biggie.

Fooker.

Looks like SSD has found a great manufacturer to make his parts. They look top notch!

My set of those are on the way, I hemmed and hawed if I needed them and missed the first group from RPP. They look really good.

Interested in this one, that is a funky cab, but you have yet to disappoint..

You made the right call, you needed 'em.

After a few hours, chassis is done and being painted.
