Default 03NCTJs Cherokar "Model of my first Jeep"

So ever since I saw the Prline Cherokee Ive wanted to build a model of my first Jeep, a 94 Cherokee limited. It was just a daily driver/grocery getter but it was a damn fine little Cherokar and I loved it. I want to build this like I would have built my Cherokee had I not been a poor teenager.... Here it goes!

I started with a SCX10 Deadbolt roller I got off fleaBay for $140. In the same order I picked up some Tamiya CC-01 Jeep wheels and RC4wd Dirt Grabbers. Here is how it looked an hour after delivery.

Next I test fitted some RC4wd inner fenders I had lying around off of a TF chassis and threw some old electronics I had lying around on it and relocated the battery to the front and the radio box to the very back to look like a fuel tank...

Next, it was time to add a touch of paint. If you refer to the post of the 1:1 you will see the O.E.M. wheels were gold in the center but had a polished lip. I took the tires off the rims and with the wheels still mounted on the chassis, I turned on the radio and turned the trim as far forward as I could to get the wheels spinning slowly. Next I took a can of Chrome spray paint and sprayed a little bit into an old paint cap and dipped a small paint brush in it. Carefull with the wheels spinning, I touched the brush to the lip of each wheel to get this result....

Next, I painted my wheel wells and an old Axial wrangler interior set I had from another project. I painted the interior flat gray to match the 1:1's gray leather. I also cut some styrene for a floor pan and attached it painted black on the bottom. The pan is attached to the stock SCX10 rock guards that I trimmed to keep under the body and add support to the structure.....

The body came in today, got a rough trim and fabbed up some hidden "hidden" body mounts using the SCX10 factory bumper mount locations....

Im liking it so far...it's looking good on the smaller tires. Keep up the good work!

I love the XJ builds! One day I'll start my scale XJ build. I had an 89' 2 door that I sold and now own a 98' classic on 35s. You cant beat a good ol' Cherokar.

I took it out in present form a few minutes ago. Even with the tires unglued and unweighted it did so well. Very balanced and will even climb a pretty decent ledge. Im pretty happy right now.

My Jeep had a roof mounted bike rack. I was a mountain biker. This was my race rig, so it has to have a rack.. And a bike....

Good deal! Always a good thing when the wife takes a shining to your hobbies... My girlfriend doesn't seem too fond of my FJ, so consider yourself lucky lol.

Where did you git the scale MTB from, and do they have different frames? I'm lookin for a Trek Y frame like the one I got.
