Thanks!

They definitely would, I've already mounted up all the wheels (will be updating the thread later today) and don;t really feel like undoing all that work. Plus I have all the other parts on order or already in my hand to switch it back over to SCX10 knuckles and c-hubs.

Now that my leather punch arrived I can finish mounting the tires and wheels.

Basic Leather punch with a 2mm punch:

I'm punching 4 holes in each tire right in the middle next to a lug for venting.

Ready for beadlock rings:

Rear ring done!

And one down! These look pretty!

Didn't make much progress the last week or so. Hoping to get a lot more done on this in the next week or two.

Was at my parents for the holidays and decided to take off the extra material from the motor plate that I marked earlier in the build.

After a few minutes with the sander and it looked like this:

Was going to try these out as front links, but they hit the upper 3 link so I said screw that.

Put together some new front lowers to push the front end out. Revo rod end, traxxas push rod from I think a summit, and a jato rod end.

Then I did a quick test fit with the body and decided to move the rear axle in just a tad. Well luck would have it, those bent machined axial links with some of the smaller traxxas rod ends was the perfect fit! Then I shortened the rear uppers by 1/4" to keep the driveline angle where it was.

Here's how it looks with the new lower links:

Next step was making the interior cage, which required the inner window.

The ever so handy curved and straight lexan scissors.

All trimmed out!

Tools and materials I'll be using to make the cage:

Pipe cutter

Cheap tube bender from harbor freight, does the job

3/16" Brass tube

I apparently only took one picture of the pieces of the cage. Whoops
Here is one of the down bars:

Since I'm going to be tacking the cage inside the cab, I decided to take a little extra precaution and lined the inside with some 3M blue tape. Probably unnecessary, but gives me peace of mind.

All the cage pieces inside and ready for soldering.

All tacked up in the cab.

And here's how it looks after taking it out of the cab.

I still have to clean up the joints, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. Learned a few things for next time I do a cage. Mainly, use less pieces and make sure the joints fit together really well. You can see in the last pic that I have some open corners.

Been slacking lately, didn't have a whole lot of motivation after the holidays and was playing a lot of video games.

Finished one seat last night. It isn't perfect but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. I'll take some more photos and do a bigger write up on how I made them when I put together the second seat.

And weights for the weight conscious folks:

Went over to my friends house to use his paint booth (simple set up in his garage). You pretty much have to paint indoors this time of year in WA. Painted my interior cage along with some ToyZuki parts for another build.

Here's the cage hanging waiting for paint.

I forgot to take anymore pics after this..

Got the rest of my parts to switch over from the XR mod (was causing steering links to rub on the tire, see early posts). Thanks Ben for the knuckles and c-hubs!!

Took the front axle off

Off come the knuckles and c-hubs.

The new goodies going on:
-Axial clockable c-hubs
-Axial Hi-steer knuckles
-VP VVDs (I didn't jump on Super 300s when they were being made so these will have to do)
-Dlux no slop bushings
-Bearings from my axle box

All the new parts installed!

Started mocking up the interior as well

I'll be using a thermoformed brusier interior that I separated the bench from the dash. Then using the lexan seats from the post above as the front seats and the bench as the rear bench. As you can see the dash fits the Tundra body pretty well.

Another angle:

Decided to take an overall truck shot as well. Or most of it.

You've done a really fantastic job with this build. Excited to see what you do with the sliders.

Thank you!!

I have a couple ideas in my head, they'll be simple but clean looking as well as trying to mimic a slider that is on the market for 1:1s. Once I get the body mounted, the sliders will be the next thing on the list.

Not a whole lot of progress, started looking at wheel hubs and then a funny short story about SLW hubs.

Had these wheel hubs that I got a while back from JoeyF when I picked up a scaler from him and figured I'd see how they look.

This is kind of funny. I had put .350 SLW hubs on the front and .225 SLW hubs on the rear. I totally forgot I did this and thought I had .225 hubs front and rear. I was trying to figure out why the front was wider than the rear and was really scratching my head. Even the recessed wheel nut area on the .350s didn't clue me into this. I thought I just had new SLW hubs and old SLW hubs. Pics below showing the difference

.350 SLW Hubs

.225 SLW Hubs

I also started working on my body mounts, but the process for making them is kind of messy so I didn't take any pictures during. I'll take a few pics of how I'm doing them tonight. I'm hoping I can finish those up tonight as they are holding up pretty much everything else I need to do.

Thanks Tim!

I have one that is a roller, need to do tube work, sliders, etc. But I think for nationals I'm going to build a C3 Tundra (was trying to go with something more unique but long story short its been a complete bust) and then for C2 take the body, sliders and bumpers off of the C3 chassis and move it over to this chassis and put on different wheels and tires and run it in C2. Allows me to only have to bring two trucks to nationals, and allows me to only have to build and complete two trucks by then (I build slowly).

Funny, I thought about putting 1.9's on the EB and running it in C2, but I like the '66 Ford too much to leave it home. May still run the EB on 1.9's in the G6.

I have an extra Tundra cab if you need one, I'll make you a really good deal on it 👍🏻

I really like that '66 Ford! But the EB is awesome as well! Might as well bring both!

I actually do need one. PM sent.

Been messing around with the body mounts. Here's what I've come up with so far.

I got some 2" nylon stand offs from Mcmaster-Carr and cut them down to ~1.5" and installed them on the body:

I then cut out two 1" x 4" pieces of Delrin and put some tape on them so I could mark them:

Then I grabbed my second ToyZuki chassis and marked where I was going to drill:

Then I thought to myself, why the hell don't I just used the chassis rail as a drill guide.

Some tape and some hole poking and ones ready to be drilled:

Holes drilled on one:

I'll also decided to drill a hole where the sharpie is pointed at just in case I decide I need a little extra support:

Then I used the first delrin piece and drilled the second one.

Mounted up the delrin pieces to the chassis:

Will need to do some serious trimming once I get the standoffs installed, ideally I'll do that in a garage as opposed to getting my kitchen counter covered in delrin dust.

Put the body back on with the nylon standoffs and marked where the posts sit with a silver sharpie (they are quite handy). In reality I should've left the blue 3M tape on.

Silver sharpie marks:

I'll have to pull off the nylon standoffs and clean up the marks a bit.

That was enough of that for one night so I went and tinkered with some C3 servo mounts (I'll start the build thread for that truck shortly )

Thanks!

Yeah, I really like how the Hilux dash looks in there and the seats turned out way better than I thought they would! I may have to try my hand at making a bench.

Look at the dinky interiors. Really light weight, and they have a few good options.
