Nice choice of components, like the bob work. Love them truggy's!

That's what happens when you let drunk friends drive your brushless wraith at night. No biggie. Building and repairing is half the fun.

Haha. Alcohol influences some great decisions.

Thanks fellas! I'm getting more excited about this build as the cab comes along. It's killing me to be away from the shop, I can't make any real progress until we get home.

The rear cage won't be ready until the first week of February. Until then I'm just gonna focus on the cab and interior.

Looks good man I've pinched a hilux before and didn't need to do the the second cuts you did. I just used a hair dryer to heat up the fenders.

I looked all over the net for pics on what cuts to make and the only ones I saw had those cuts. Oh well.

It won't be too hard to fill in the holes. I've spent some time today cleaning up the edges. It's a pretty good fit except for where the relief cuts are, even they aren't bad.

Thanks bud! We just returned from our family trip to the mountains. I'm hoping to get to work on the body work today/tonight.

My buddy TODBLDZ runs these tires and highly recommends them. Seeing as he's placed in more comps/G6s than I'll ever enter, I'd say you're safe to run 'em on your rig. They feel great, nice, soft and sticky.

I'm gonna pick up a set of the Krawlers once I wear these Treps out.

You need to be spamming us with pictures, BadWagon. Please.

Small update.

So we got back from the mountains today and I spent a bit of time in the shop.

I heated up the cab and pulled the fenders in.

The fenders and hood match up decently well.

This side is better than the other.

Here's the other.

At least they are straight.

Of course ya gotta see what it looks like on the chassis

I've started to reenforce it under neath.

Still quite a ways to go, but at least there's progress.

These are the Axial 1.9s in R35 compound. I really like these tires. The wheels are a bit narrow, but the look has really grown on me. I'm just hoping it side hills without issue.

Progress.... Is sometimes good. This week I've spent fighting styrene.

The guys here make it look so easy... I would guess there is something wrong with my technique. I'm using MEK substitute and Evergreen brand styrene. I've finally gotten the fenders secure. But it took a lot of work.

Here are my steps:

This is the messy underside of the first layer. Trying to even out the different levels under the hood.

Then I cut larger pieces to tie it all together.

I've filled in the relief holes with "n00b goop"... At least that's what I call it in my head. It's MEK substitute and scraps of styrene. It's actually filled it in really well.

The grille is pissing me off. I'll post up more on it in a bit.

Any suggestions are welcome. My styrene bonds seem very brittle and weak.

Cheers

So my nephew stopped by to drop off the tickets for tomorrow's game (Panther's play off game) and I dragged him to the garage to help me with the grille. Paul is a master woodworker and I needed a different perspective.

This grille sucked. No doubt. I thought the single grille would look cool. It didn't, and I was at a loss.

I showed him the Mojave grille just for reference to how much I'd pinched the cab.

Then he said "let's combine these two". Genius!

A few measurements and some time on the bandsaw and beltsander and we had what we think looks pretty good and fits the pinched cab.

Right now it's just held together with MEK. I'll be adding a strip of styrene, CA and shoe goo.

This is awesome! Kinda what I wanted to do originally with my first build, but since I'm a newbie I steered to an easier route. Looking great though, I'll be watching this one.
