Thanks Tantaran. I didn't get anything done yesterday, but I'll be digging back into it tonight. I should have some updates in a day or two... If things go well. LOL

Yeah it didn't happen overnight that's for sure. Funny because it seems like you are making no progress then you out a few pieces in and boom, it looks like an interior.

I'm glad I read through the rules as I wasn't gonna cut my chassis. But reading through them I found that the rear frame needs to be cut off and the shocks must mount to the cage... So I spoke in length with the guy who's building my cage and it'll be what I want as well as C2 legal.

Hey just noticed you posted this tonight.. thought I would point out a thing or two though its probably a bit too late.. The rules are a little vague and honestly poorly worded here and there.

You only need to cut the rails if you want to have your truck count as a "true to the rules" truggy. (a lot of people will tell you any truck in rl that is a cab only is a truggy which causes some confusion) The difference between a truggy and a cab only with a tube bed in Sorrca rules is 1 point.

-To contain any confusion for others..

-In Class one it mentions truggies and cab onlys in the same line.

• Truggies are not allowed, flatbeds with full length rail chassis are allowed. The bed must be as wide as the cab the entire length of the bed. Cab only not allowed.

-In class two it never mentions Cab only by name. It only mentions rail length and Truggies and flatbeds.

• You must run a full rail chassis, and the chassis (including bumpers) must be 3" longer than the wheelbase (this includes a chassis with a truggy rear frame). •Truggies are allowed, but you must replace the ladder frame behind the cab with tube, and the truggy rails must extend past the rear axle pumpkin to be legal. The bed must have a roll bar hoop and integrated shock mounts. It also must be a structural part of the rear of the vehicle. (If your bed does not meet ALL of the preceding criteria, it does not count as a truggy bed). • Flatbeds that run the full length of the rail chassis are allowed. The bed must be as wide as the cab the entire length of the bed.

-But in allowed modifications it does mention tube beds.

o Dovetailing the rear *a truggy/tube bed that is narrower than the cab counts as a dovetail* (1/2 the width of the widest part of the cab).

-Which might make you think that a truggy and a tube bed are the same thing, until you look at points..

• Tube bed OR flatbed: metal -3, plastic -1

• Truggy/back halved truck: metal -4, plastic -2 (Must replace the ladder frame behind the cab with tube, and must extend past the rear axle pumpkin to be legal. The bed must have a roll bar hoop and integrated shock mounts. It also must be a structural part of the rear of the vehicle. (If your bed does not meet ALL of the preceding criteria, it does not count as a truggy bed).Tube bed, roll bar, shock mount points not available in addition to truggy bed points.

-So you can have a full rail truck with a cab only and a tube bed.. it's just that you will only get -3 scale points instead of the -4 of the truggy.

Just thought I would try to clarify the rules (atleast as I understand them) partially because my C2 is a cab only with full rails and a tube bed. and for the sake of others that are wanting to do a cab only tube bed.

Oh. BTW.. Looks like your truck is coming along nicely. Looking forward to seeing how it looks as a truggy.

Thanks for the clarification! To be honest I didn't notice the difference between the two, but I would've still made the same choice, going full truggy. I think it looks way better, and definitely more scale.

At this point it's too late to chance direction as the cage is done and will ship out today. It almost made it out Friday, but I added a couple last minute details. Yesterday was president's day so no postal service.

I'm really excited to see the cage. SMF seems stoked, so it must've turned out really nice. Once it arrives, I can move forward with finalizing the cab.

I still have to work the fenders, close off the back, cut out the back to clear the trans, and get the mounting sorted.

Lots to do, but it's at the point in which its gonna start to come together.

Thanks again for chiming in, I hope the clarification helps others who are considering a cab only build.

Hey thanks fellas! I surprised myself. I hope I can keep it up. Lol.

Working on fitting the driver and finishing modeling the interior so I'll be ready to mount the cab when the cage arrives.

I feel like a kid a Christmas waiting on that cage.

Small update...

I'm working on my driver. Trying to fit a guy with no moving hips or knees requires, slight modification. Basically I chopped him up and hoped for the best.

What I'm concerned about is his height... Does he seem too tall to y'all?

Please chime in and let me know. I think I'm too close to the forest to see the trees on this one.

Thanks!

Thanks Sam. I guess he'll do as he sits. I may try and bring him down a hair, but we'll see if that's possible while keeping it looking good.

Yeah maybe lower him a few mm but nothing drastic. Those cabs in 1:1 are tiny with a shallow floor so keep that in mind.

Me too, the cage will be here tomorrow, so I'm gonna make a push over the next few days to finish up the cab. I've gotta build the steering wheel, blinker and wiper stalks, parking brake handle and inner door skins. Cutting and modding the Windows should be straightforward.

With the cage here, I can finalize the mounts, and the cab back, which is gonna need to be cut to clear the trans. I'm planning on painting the spur cover to help it blend it with the cab. Won't be scale, but it'll hopefully blend in and not stick out like a sore thumb.

You can always hide the spur cover with some scale accessories like a toolbox or something?

Anyways, much respect for your styrene work. Once I can find an appropriate sized box, I'll ship that other styrene to you.
