C2 Taco Buggy

I have been wanting to build a Tacoma bodied buggy for a long time.. Not really sure what took so long since the Honcho body has been out for years now... So this is my version and go at it..

The C2 Taco build is my current 2016 Class 2 rig that I run in the L.E.R.K Comp Series.

The 1:1 inspiration rig.. This is Not a replica build.

Great building. Matches the 1:1 with the short and stocky look perfectly.

Me too. Feel kinda dumb not knowing who drove it or anything else about it really. Always wondered if it was that old rock racer Tacoma recycled for Ultra4 or if its a new build.. Research time.

I believe that was a rig that ran in the old XRRA days. Before Ultra4. Basically, XRRA was short course rock racing with old We Rock buggies. Super cool times.

Re: C2 Taco Buggy

Starting off with some home brew limiting straps. Simple, cheap to make and effective. All good qualities. These have saved so many rod ends, shocks and links from snapping on many of my rigs over the years. Plus they get scale points.. Bonus.

1/8 " ribbon
small electrical fittings 14g and down

Things like Rock Skids that can also give prime location for electronics n stuff.

Recycled this HR screw cover to make the filler cap.

I'm working on fixing the winch line to the front axle so I can suck it up on the steeps and still use it as a recovery tool fast...

Nice. Thanks guys.:) Yeah the 1:1 is pimp.

So I was thinking some of you builders out there who don't already know might find these useful.. They can be found in most hardware stores in the hardware bin sections from big box stores like Home Deportation, Blowes to local owned small stores for cheap. I like this kinda stuff.

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...uggy%20037.jpg

They can be used for lots of applications from leaf spring shackles, pull pals, shock and link mounts to body post. I've used them and parts of them for many purposes. These are just a few examples from past builds.

Home brew Pull Pals

Body panel tabs...etc... You guys get the idea ...

Re: C2 Taco Buggy

Got the winch all worked out with the use of a snatch block. Simple really.. Sucks it up nice and still quick use for recovery. The Futaba 4PL is such a nice controller to use with the fine tuning abilities. The neutral has just enough drag to release slow and then I can hit it to make it a fast drop.

Tight fit with no clearance issues anywhere in the cycle.
