C2 Taco Buggy I have been wanting to build a Tacoma bodied buggy for a long time.. Not really sure what took so long since the Honcho body has been out for years now... So this is my version and go at it.. The C2 Taco build is my current 2016 Class 2 rig that I run in the L.E.R.K Comp Series. The 1:1 inspiration rig.. This is Not a replica build. http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...y/RCH_3777.jpg http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...y/RCH_3787.jpg How it sits for now waiting on the Dinky RC bed sides, paint and final touches. http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...gy%20019_1.jpg http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...uggy%20040.jpg http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...gy%20023_2.jpg Parts List: SCX-10 Based Axial Honcho Body Dinky RC Bedsides Beef Tubes F&R axles Vanquish 5mm VVD's BMRC Knuckle Weights Vanquish CMS Tekin FXR 35t HD Combo MIP Drivelines Robinson Racing Guts Castle BEC Savox Servo Hitec MG Servo Winch Futaba 4PL Vaterra Trailing Arms Exoterra Rear Light Bar & Radiator Yeti Fuel Cell Hpi Driver Set RC4WD Steel Wheels Proline TSL XL Swampers Proline Shocks Suspension: 3 Link Front Custom Trailing Arm 4 Link Rear Chassis: Total weight = 1lb 6oz empty 5/32" & 1/8" Music Wire Steel MIG Welded 0.25 welding wire 75/25 Argon I'm gonna rewind the clock a bit to show stages of the build.. http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...hone%20039.jpg After welding tabs, sanding, clean up and paint http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...uggy%20018.jpg http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...uggy%20010.jpg http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...uggy%20013.jpg http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...uggy%20016.jpg http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...uggy%20020.jpg http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...uggy%20024.jpg |

Re: C2 Taco Buggy Starting off with some home brew limiting straps. Simple, cheap to make and effective. All good qualities. These have saved so many rod ends, shocks and links from snapping on many of my rigs over the years. Plus they get scale points.. Bonus. 1/8 " ribbon small electrical fittings 14g and down http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...uggy%20025.jpg http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...uggy%20149.jpg Ok... So what are all these tabs for ?? http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...uggy%20022.jpg Things like Rock Skids that can also give prime location for electronics n stuff. http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...uggy%20143.jpg Recycled this HR screw cover to make the filler cap. http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...uggy%20172.jpg Exo-terra Light Bar and Radiator. http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...uggy%20027.jpg http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...uggy%20152.jpg http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...uggy%20164.jpg |

Thanks for taking the time to check it out guys.. Its hard to hate a Tacoma.. Jeep guys know what I'm talking about  I'm working on fixing the winch line to the front axle so I can suck it up on the steeps and still use it as a recovery tool fast... |

Nice. Thanks guys.:) Yeah the 1:1 is pimp. So I was thinking some of you builders out there who don't already know might find these useful.. They can be found in most hardware stores in the hardware bin sections from big box stores like Home Deportation, Blowes to local owned small stores for cheap. I like this kinda stuff. http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...uggy%20037.jpg They can be used for lots of applications from leaf spring shackles, pull pals, shock and link mounts to body post. I've used them and parts of them for many purposes. These are just a few examples from past builds. http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...Build016-2.jpg http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...Build024-2.jpg Shock hoops VW Bug http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...Build016-1.jpg Steel body post. http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...ugBuild005.jpg Home brew Pull Pals http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...stuff025-1.jpg Body panel tabs...etc... You guys get the idea ... |
Re: C2 Taco Buggy Got the winch all worked out with the use of a snatch block. Simple really.. Sucks it up nice and still quick use for recovery. The Futaba 4PL is such a nice controller to use with the fine tuning abilities. The neutral has just enough drag to release slow and then I can hit it to make it a fast drop. http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...gy%20019_2.jpg http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...gy%20020_3.jpg Tight fit with no clearance issues anywhere in the cycle. http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...uggy%20032.jpg Video of it in action. http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...uggy%20022.mp4 http://vid250.photobucket.com/albums...gy%20022_1.mp4 |
Re: C2 Taco Buggy Looks really nice. Seems like it's just about ready for the rocks. |
