Very good thread, I especially like the part where it was just a pile of junk. I was all "Oooooh, what could he be building?" And then it turned out to be a truck. I was very surprised. For serious tho, your metal work is very clean. What torch/solder are you using? Or do you just spend twice as long scrubbing the joints with wire brush and acetone? |

I just use a solder station, 60/40 rosin core solder and oatleys flux. I don't clean the joints, I do file/sand them to get the joints to fit together better.

Had some breakage on this truck at a comp up in Canada a few weeks ago. Sheared the driver's side c-hub and universal: Was able to borrow someone's driveshaft and had a spare c-hub so I was able to repair it and finish the last two courses. Truck in its current state: I have some poorly cut universals I got some time ago, I may throw one of those in to at least get me by at the comp this Saturday. I plan on eventually upgrading to VP c-hubs and will probably cut down a new universal to my liking. Also, got some 1.9 Scorpios. I plan on testing these out and see how they compare to the KLRs on there. As I do with every new tire, sprayed down with simple green and sit in the bag for the day. |

I haven't tried the scorpios yet. They pass the feel test for a tire and I've heard good things about them. I should have them mounted and ready to go for our local comp on Saturday and will report back. I'll also take them out on some mono rock Sunday or Monday.

Current state, it's pretty stripped down: Front axle parts going back on: Front axle back together: Decided to try and mount the electronics a little lower: Creating a bundle of the electronics: Used some shrink wrap to hold everything together and then mounted to the lexan plate I was using to hold the BECs. A couple pics of everything mounted back into the truck: Then a few pics showing how I have my servo installed (flipped the servo several months ago at nats): In order to mount the servo like that you need to space down your panhard bar ever so slightly: |

Few updates to this truck over the past week. First, decided to finally install a gear cover on the Toyzuki transfer case. Out comes the T-Case: T-case cover (in orange of course): Assembled: Back in the truck: Finally got my Rock Beast XLs: Decided to just get some new wheels for these settled on another set of DCW wheels: Going with slightly different LURC rings: Scale Hardware from LURC: And of course the LURC tool and tool handle for the scale hardware: Mounted one up with stock foams. Stock ones feel pretty good, but I've used CI foams for years so I mounted up another with CI Lil Novas, 4.5 inner, Medium outer. I'm really happy with the look of the black rings and multi color xinc scare hardware! |

Who makes the t-case cover and how can I get one? Love both this and the C1 builds by the way, I'll definitely be taking lots of ideas from them. |

Tried out the RBXLs this weekend. They crawled everything the KLRs could and then crawled a test crack we have that the KLRs couldn't. They are really tall though compared to the KLRs. Then I got home and noticed that the rear axle shaft was bent, the front end sounds crunchy, the rear bed is basically completely broken (one side has ripped off and then reattached), and the front bumper is held together with electrical tape and hopes and dreams. I think it's time for a refresh/rebuild. |

I was loving Justin's pics from the last comp, it looks good without the bed!

How do the 4.5's fit? my 4.75" comp cuts don't really even fill the tire.
