| What the Vuck?!
The original Vuck Was built by jeeper_05 and purchased by hotwheels000: jeeper_05's Vuckin Yota build...Now Hotwheels000's Vuckin Yota! When we saw it, we wanted it. We couldn't have it, so we had 2 double cab Vucks built: Locked Up's "Vuckin Double Cab" - A Chop Shop & Difuser build One DC Vuck was picked up by sirbuildsalot (the other remains unfinished): Vuck build #1 is back Once we posted that #1 DC Vuck up for sale, we were contacted by hotwheels000 who said he was ready to let the original Vuck go!!! So we snagged it! This thread will chronicle the changes we make. Nothing drastic is planned, some things will be updated and revamped. |

Current status update. The Vuck bed and front corners have a few cracks. These may just get reinforced from behind and filled. Not sure if we are keeping this paint scheme or not. It's missing one of the Axial plastic lights used to hold the body on and the cargo net needs a little sewing.... easy fixes. It is also without wheels ... which I think we can fix. The Driver will stay, the infant will go. Hook on top needs to go. The plastic links and cut knuckles will get replaced. The Hand Brothers CMS will also be removed for one of our more adjustable Pro CMS kits. It also needs all new electronics and the axle cases are going to be opened so we can see what is inside. Easy work right? |

Make it yours Patrick, I know you will do Scott proud. The cargo net pipeing is a heat applied material, no sewing was involved. You might try hitting it with an iron to see if it will re-adhere. I used that over sewing as I felt the stitching would just pull thru the netting, your results may vary lol I did not realize the front corners were cracked, lmk ifI need to make it up to you. |

Still have one. Devlin... we are all good. I think you actually mentioned that to me when you were looking over it. Oh and let me know if you want the lexan motor/trans thing ... or the infant. Last edited by Locked Up; 02-16-2016 at 11:00 PM.

Made some progress on the Vuck today! I had planned on just slapping some wheels & tires on then getting to the electronics ... but you know how things go. For the wheels, I decided to go with our AO8 Iconic 1.9's with black steel agile rings. I think they will look good with the colors of the body: I mounted them to the used Baja Claws that came with the Vuck and my special blend of secret foams that I still won't share with Corey. Next thing to do was to address the steering setup. Devlin had some modified Integy knuckles and homemade links that I was just not loving. So I picked out a set of our High Steer Zero Ackermann knuckles so that I can get full throw out of the stock steering setup. I also grabbed some of our Clockable C-Hubs to complete the set and some M3x6 Set Screws to finish out the install. Since I was replacing the steering setup, I figured I'd grab some 5x11x4 & 10x15x4 bushings: I also swiped a set of our new OTVD steering shafts. Oh, you haven't heard of those?! That's because they have not been officially released yet. So the people reading this will see them first. So with that all buttoned up.... Up next I'll tackle the steering links and get s servo put in. Last edited by Locked Up; 04-21-2016 at 11:07 PM. |

For the linkage and the servo, I thought I'd keep it easy. I was wrong. I started with one of our 122mm threaded pipes for the tie rod and some M3x16 Set Screws for the rod ends. The Rod Ends are the smaller Traxxas style (similar size to stock Axial stuff but a hair longer) that I had laying around. So boom, full throw: Now here is where the snowball started to roll. Because I went Zero Ackermann ... the Hand Brothers CMS no longer works. So I decided I'd go ahead and use a Zero Ackermann Pro CMS kit. Actually, I had planned on using just our Trackbar Bracket ... but at I started assembling things I realized I would need the adjustability of the entire kit. So, unplanned CMS install. Woohoo!!! And to make it even more fun, the Vuck frame was already full of holes and that cool looking steering skid was not going to play nicely with the high steer so... I went form a simple Wheels, Tires and steering install to this: To beef up the axle with the CMS kit, I decided to go ahead and install Gunnar Tubes.... actually one Gunnar Tube and One Flat Top Gunnar Tube. So the housing needed to be clearanced on the inside: The holes popped (per the CMS instructions) in the top of the housing; And then we have: To save time I had considered using the Hand Brother Servo mount but I wanted to push the servo forward so I opted for ours. That meant taking things apart and drilling the frame for our chassis side track bar bracket. BUT the frame was already pretty beat up. Badly enough that I had to grab another frame rail just to see if I could find the stock holes that are used to index the servo mount when you drill for the track bar! Drilling the holes with the drill guides (so as to not damage threads). I got the holes drilled and it looks like it was hit with buckshot, but it's still plenty strong/ And once installed a lot of the ugly is covered... and will look even better after I paint it. So after getting that installed, I picked out a nice HS-7954SH for the steering. I had to mess with that front skid to work with my servo position. Made a few adjustments, did some cutting and.... For the wheels, I went with our 285 axle flanges in the rear, and 685s in the front to clear everything with the zero ackermann. I'll probably swap to the 485s in the rear though for a more even look. Next time will probably be electronics so I can at least drive it! And you know these gears & diff are not staying for long! They don't rub anywhere. They fit LURC C-Chubs and stock with no issues. Yes on the coils. I'm gonna let them weather naturally. Might speed up the rings so the steel gets some rust but I'm OK with the wheels looking newish. May do the hubs as well. We will see. Won't be ready for Sunday. Still LOTS to do!
