Well I didn't get as much time as I would have liked, but here is a little progress. I have finished tying the cage together and all of its bracing. I did have to remove and replace two tubes in the rear for shock clearance. No biggie, but you guys might notice. Also made some plates for mounting the electronics up front, and one for the scale stuff in back. Now it's time for ALL the mounting tabs. I still need the batteries before I can make the battery trays. I'm also going to pop for the perforated sheet from McMaster for the body panels. Waiting on my wallet to fill back up. |

There are a couple vendors on here making them to. I would probably buy from one of them if I did. Right now even with what little bit of time I have to work on this thing, I still have more time than money. So I'll just cry about it and make some.

For your first full cage build it has turned out great. Looks like your entry and exits on the rocks are going to be great. How is your weight going to be, I know you were trying to keep it under a certain weight. Keep up the good work young man! Ernie, |

Thank you very much sir. That means a lot coming from a man with your experience. I'm really not worried about the weight, but in order to be u4rc trophy class legal it has to be at least 7 pounds. There are no u4rc tracks anywhere near me so I don't think it will be u4 racing anytime soon. Last time I weighed it is was still under 7 pounds rtr. I definitely added some this weekend, and the bigger batteries should put me over the 7lb. mark. I am more concerned with crawl ability than class legal anyways. I am sort of trying to get it done for RC4WD scale challenge in June. It will be class 3 by sorcca rules either way. Last edited by Poprivet; 04-18-2016 at 07:35 AM.

Those RC BRO tabs are pretty nice. When you finish your U4 I will finish mine and bring it down and run together. Last edited by CODYBOY; 04-18-2016 at 01:17 PM. |

Finally got a little done this weekend. Here's some homemade tabs. I used them to get my radiator and rear light bar mounted. I'm using some 20 gage for tabs where the screw goes into plastic, and 1/8" flat bar where I need them drilled and tapped 3mm. The spawn interior has been narrowed and put in place with the 1/8" tabs. Also got the headlights mounted. I have some perforated sheet, batteries, and some more scale goodies coming. |

Thank you Ernie. I am getting closer to paint. Still have to decide how I want to mount the body panels. Zip ties or tabs. I'll know more once the material shows up. Also the battery trays and how to secure them. As for color, I want to match the 1:1 best I can, but it will no doubt be in my usual black, silver, or anywhere in between with a chance for some blue on the driver. Thanks ahead of time for the motor. Oh yeah, didn't want to say anything before it got here, but thanks to CODYBOY this thing is gonna fly! |
