| Magoo's Rubicon
So I wanted to build a class 2 rig that I could just beat on doing what ever and not care much about having to worry about breaking it. So the Axial Rubicon fit the bill since I had a body set laying around. Next I ordered up a Y-Town scale chassis since I have a weakness for carbon. Then lost track of ordering parts. Eventually I will get around to using trailing arms on the back but for now a VP links set will do. I need to cut the front shafts down just being lazy about it . Parts List: Y-Town scaler chassis HR Transmission w/ 32p spur AX10 MIP shafts Hitec 7950th Holmes Hobbies BRXL waterproof esc Holmes Hobbies 3500kv Puller Pro standard Hitec 5645 servo winch HeyOk winch controller VP 1.9 beadlocks Pitbull 1.9 Growlers Crawler Innovations foams VP Rubicon titanium link set RcBro burly tubes xr10 width VP incision lockers VP XR10 from shafts CBRB rear titanium shafts heavy duty standard gears R2j FSL-2 sliders VP VVD XR10 axles Last edited by ManiacMagoo; 04-26-2016 at 04:48 PM. |

What motor are you using, building a rig with a similar set up.

Let us know how it works, I'll be using the 3500 XL from a previous Yeti build, it's really too heavy, and a bit overkill. Not sure if I should go for the standard or Stubby. Thanks, Gilles |

I have a 3300kv Stubby as well that I think will go to the C3 build I have. I figured between the 2 I can swap depending what I need in each rig plus overkill is the only way I know.

I was more concerned by the weight of the XL than the overkill factor |

Got a little more work done on this today. Installed some VP VVD XR-10 universals instead of cutting down the yeti ones I had. Nice to see it finally as a roller. Now to get around to wiring the electronics up. Still trying to decide on paint for it. Might get around to trimming the bumper for the servo winch. |

Took the Rubicon out for a spin at the coast. Haven't updated this much but it runs awesome. Forgot that my 2yo killed the 32p pinion so on went the 48p gears which did just fine. This thing crawls a lot better than I thought. The puller pro is an amazingly smooth brushless motor which I was pleasantly surprised. Up till now it has only seen basher duty at my brothers house because well it is a snappy little rig. For the time being I'm running a 4 link in the rear but have the sway bar and trailing arms that will be going on soon. Y-Town did an awesome job with this chassis and all of the adjustments. I was worried about the servo winch plate but I drive it like a slash and it holds up fine . The growlers do a lot better than I thought they would. Now I see why some like them so much. I was going to run RB's but decided a mellower tire would fit better across the board for a combination of U4, G6, Scale Comps, and just screwing off. |
