awesome. Will this rig be a shelf queen, or, will it see some crawling action?

A bit of both...

Light crawling for videos... maybe I'll do the adventure series with the GCM guys up north, but overall I will take it very easy on this rig.

I'm in the process of building an rc studio, so this will get a shelf/display worthy of the literal years I've spent working on it.

It's a slow process, I'm really surprised and happy people still check out the progress when I get around to posting it.

Huge thanks to ubernewb from scale builders guild for giving me the idea to use flocking.

I seriously could not figure out how to lay down the carpet for the interior. I tried and failed three times.

Flocking just makes so much sense and it looks phenomenal.

Here are the first pieces. Spare tire cover and back of the rear seat.

I'll do the rest of the interior soon.

I wish I would have considered flocking earlier... I could have used it on the roof liner and door panels. I've used it in other modeling for grass and have even build a flocking machine, so I'm not sure why it slipped my mind. Sometimes you just need a second opinion.

Flocking is finished. It turned out pretty good.

Build will be finished soon. It's madness that all I have to do is add metal emblems and a few small details... And that I have put it off for so long.

I've finished my new workshop and will have photos and a video up soon.

Thanks to everyone who still sees this thread, I'm truly grateful that it hasn't completely died off.

etal emblems. I had some from a previous build, luckily.

I've also realized that I never finished the shifter or parking brake.

Also, the roof liner and rear view look off without sun visors.

Sun visors.. trivial and slapped together, but somehow necessary after seeing them in place.

They fold down. Which doesn't do much good since the interior is enclosed.

The next update should be finished pictures and then a video.

I feel a video is needed, as many of these features should be seen in motion and sound. Such as the stereo, horn, remote hood latch and LEDs

This is why this build has taken three years...
Everytime I think I'm done.. I see areas that need work. Well that and having two kids, buying property and building a shop/studio.

This time around it's seat buckles and straps.

New shop and my whole process has changed. Now when I need small parts like this I walk directly to my computer and use fusion360 and a printer instead of walking over to my drawer of styrene. I'm not sure if this is a good thing, but it saves me time at the slight cost of quality.

I also noticed that the Jeep doesn't have "holy s*** handles".. but I'm not sure if I'll use another night to add them. It's time to wrap this up

I'm not sure if I should waste bandwidth with every small detail, but these buckles came out pretty good.

I'm going to upload the stl files to thingiverse if anyone is interested in using them.

The actual belt should be silver, but I had this black lace from Walmart and while it's a bit wide, it does fit pretty well.

Some finished pictures.

I'm going to make a video that goes over some of my favorite parts of this build. Kind of a TLR for this thread.

Time to move on to something more substantial. I've been looking through "the guilds finest".. and those builds make this look like a kid's toy. So maybe it's time I scratch build or something. Will need to find inspiration in a truck I like.

Final tally on Gimmicks: Horn, manual directionals/reverse/brake lights, scale speakers with Bluetooth connection, Turning steering wheel, dome lights, remote hood latch. All usable from the transmitter.

Short preview type video.

I've learned two things. I need a steady cam rig, and it's impossible to keep dust off of anything shiny in the dry NH weather. Though I don't think the problem is exclusively a NH thing.

I don't know what the flock "flocking" is, but it looks great as carpet! Is flocking called something different in the USA - anybody?

Awesome interior build! I'd go as far as called it amazing! Truck looks great!

Your garage is awesome as well!

Also, thank you for sharing the seat buckles! Very nice.

Thanks Jato, I appreciate you popping in here through out the build.

Flocking is like... Tiny fibers you sprinkle over paint or adhesive. I'm not sure of it has another regional name haha.

I know this thread's a little bit aged by this time but since it's here I might as well ask.

I just picked up the 2-door version of this body because 2-door XJs are sexy. Also picked up a Gelande D90 roller to put it on. I was also able to find the 'classic' fender flares as a separate item so I don't have to use the huge ugly flares.

I noticed that the 2-door version doesn't appear to include the front bumper. I can't find the front bumper or it's associated tree as a replacement part anywhere and I've been looking for hours.

Does anyone just so happen to know where you can get the replacement front bumper for this body?

Thanks in advance!
