This is starting to look like a truck that was abandoned, left in a field for a few years and brought back to life. I over did the weathering, but it was fun.

I still have to install the windows, lights, ESC, steering wheel servo, sound unit and smoker. Plus, the front wheels and taller tires, to get the look I want.

I was just looking at one of these kits last night on eBay. Looks like a really cool truck. I can't wait to see shots/video of it out in the world.

Thank you for all of the positive comments. I'll have it up and running in a video in about a week and a half.

The driver's head, hat and sunglasses are from a wrestler figure and his body is an older 1:12 Bruce Lee figure that my dog chewed up.

Really impressive sir. I've used rusting to great effect before, looks no different here. A fine build.

I wish this thread would go away. Super-jelly! Great work though.

Looking good, but I like the regular shackles and a bit less lift better. One of the best normal non-wrestler looking drivers ever!

Not too shabby, Alpha. I've been eyeing that kit but have a few (dozen?) builds in progress that I need to finish first. So I'll live vicariously for now. You may proceed.

Goof.

I set all of the electronics out on the counter and started trying to figure out how to use this new transmitter. Took about an hour to get it all working correctly and solder everything together. Drag brake still needs to be dialed back, lol.

Anyway, this is a Radiolink RC3S - 2.4ghz, 4 channels and cheap! It cost me $34 shipped. I don't buy expensive radio equipment because I insist on having a separate transmitter for each truck, so other people can drive my stuff with me.

Channel 1 is obviously for steering, but it is also split with a Y harness so that a second servo can turn the steering wheel inside the truck.

Channel 2 is only throttle and brake, but the sound unit and smoker (hopefully) will run proportionally with the throttle.

Channel 3 is a knob that is used with a wired winch controller for forward, backward and center, without a wireless key fob.

Channel 4 is a push button that will switch the transmission between high and low gear, as long as the low profile servo fits (hasn't arrived yet).

G'day,
... not only a very clear and concise build report but you have made a very nice model into something really special!

Just one question: I found that on long-time abandoned vehicles not only the propshafts tend to "mark their turf" but everything that has ever seen grease or oil. Will you replicate that as well?

I don't really know where to add oil/fluid leaks...differentials? There's no "engine" or oil pan. Diesel spots around the fuel caps would look appropriate, I think. I'll see if I can find some reference photos.

Hi Alpha,
can you provide the width of the body, fender outside to fender outside? Would appreciate your support.
Thanks in advance!

Sven

Really digging this build! The rusting on the frame is awesome. I think it would look really awesome to give the roof of the cab some weathering and paint fade! maybe even the hood too! man this thing is such a sweet build it remind me of the covered truck in Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark, the one with the canvas bed cover. looking forward to more updates!

Sure, Sven. The outer edges of the fenders measure about 8.5 inches, or 216mm.

Still waiting for the front wheels to arrive, but I received the low profile shifting servo.
