Turns out a standard wheel hex pin fits so Barbie is back to 100%

More bad luck for Barbie, she lost both CVD pins and another front driveshaft.

I think I need to limit the steering and get some 2 stage foams cuz the tires fold up and get wedged against the link and axle housing in the rocks.

Are the pins breaking, or just falling out?

The pins are falling out, I don't know if it's too much steering or the weeds on the perimeter of the rockpile dislodging the pin retainers.

I'm thinking about trying rubber o-rings as retainers ....or maybe just pull the weeds;)

I fixed the driveshaft...

I installed an 8-32x2" screw in the female half of the driveshaft.

I "machined" the head down to fit under the ball.

Here's my redneck lathe...

You live in a beautiful place. I'm in a relatively featureless desert. Dirt and tumbleweeds. I drive an hour into the mountain to play with my toys.

Default Barbie hits the rocks....

Barbie (who signed up as Ryan to avoid the paparazzi) finished 11 out of 20 at her first comp....

Yes, we are very fortunate, we have many places to play. It does get cold and grey in the winter.....

Barbi did great in that comp!

We're just now getting into our "season" for doing this. During the summer, it's over 100 before noon. Gets old quick. I still made a few trips a month to my favorite spot.

I had to run C2 because no CMS and my tires were .1" too big.

If I compete again, I want to run C1. I'm gonna try to rotate the motor and trans to the right and install the servo on the left.

I found these smaller barbies at the store and they seem to fit much better.

The full size Barbies heads are above the roll bar and their feet go all the way to the shock mounts which limited the space for a CMS.

More drama, this time the pin walked out halfway and bound up till the axle snapped....

Don't tell my kid, but I'm gonna borrow his axle so my wife and I can go trailing this weekend

I think the reason I keep throwing pins is that I have too much steering throw and I keep messing with the end points. I also noticed that the tie rod is low so I will solve both problems by using and different hole in the pitman arm, trimming the excess, and putting the tie rod on top of the knuckles...
