Default Barbie hits the rocks....

I've been meaning to build this Barbie Jeep for over 5 years for my wife so I ordered some goodies from banggood and found some leftovers....

Old HG rear (needs gears and bearings)

New HG front

Knockoff wheels and tires

Power HD lw-20 mg servo

New Rain 320A ESC

Leftover ax10 transmission with integrated 85t (what?!?) motor

Next step, scratch chassis....

Ride height mock up with interior sitting on transmission, looks doable

Most scale TJ hard body I have seen yet

What's that wheel base sitting at? Looks pretty short. This thing is gonna be sweet!

Some sliders, a mean front bumper and some black fender flares and this thing is ready to hit the rocks!

The wheelbase is 8 5/8" which is why I'm using the high pinion HG axles, I tried it with ax10 axles initially and the angle plus the length made it unfeasible.

The more I look at it, I think I need a smaller tire, I have a set of HPI stock car wheels that seem too small to glue 1.9's so I'm thinking a set of 1.7 tires with a smaller outer diameter might be better.

If I go with a smaller tire, I may need to trim the interior to move the transmission higher, looks like I can go up about a half an inch before the motor hits.

With proper servo placement and the small battery I have on order, I shouldn't have to amputate any barbie legs

Do a forward motor and tranny with t-case...problems solved. Cool build, I like the pink!

I did a little trimming and got the body down another 1/2" without compromising the interior so I think I'm good.

These are the mockup tires and wheels

http://m.banggood.com/HOBBY-MASTER-1...-p-942852.html

I'm currently running them on my HG P 402, they are really good for the price.

Default Barbie hits the rocks....

Status update:

I've been eyeballing an MST CMX for a long time so I decided to pick one up to see if Barbie could make it work....

Turns out the mid motor is even higher than my mockup so it's a no go since my wife wants two Dolls to sit inside so I ordered a MST CFX for Barbie to try out....

P.S. MST needs to send bearings with the kits...

The initial CMX was without a body so I got the CFX with the bronco body cuz I've always wanted a Bronco.

The Bronco body will go on the CMX and Barbie gets the CFX.

Here's how it sits on the MST CFX chassis.

Body off, I had to shorten the shortest WB links by about 10 mm to get the wheelbase to match and the rear shocks had be relocated to clear the body.

The plan is shorty battery between the rear frame rails and put the rx and esc under the seats.

Moving the front axle back meant clearance issues with the slipper shaft even with a low profile servo.

I pushed the axle forward 2mm and it still hits.

I will try a little more forward movement and then trim the end of the shaft for clearance.
