| Bet you haven't seen this! 3wd c1
If you know me, you know that I love being different with my builds. One evening I was contemplating my next build and came across this picture. It was the only one I could find like it. I immediately decided that I must build this truck. In case you didn't. Price it only has 3 wheels. This will be a scratch build and I have just barely started. I plan to update this thread as I progress and build this crazy piece of machinery. I spent months contemplating how to creat a singular rear drive wheel and I am pretty sure I have the concept down. Now it is simply to build it. Here is my proof of concept rear wheel. It will be refined, but the plan is to run a belt drive system on each side of the wheel all built on a rear swing arm. Interesting. It kind of has a Volkswagen front end on it. I am trying to imagine the stability of such a set up. Any kind of load in the bed would be a little sketchy at speed. Curious to see how it pans out and performs. Leaf sprung would be too sweet!

It'll probably perform better than the Reliant Robin that Jeremy Clarkson tested on Top Gear(U.K.)..............Oh how I miss Clarkson's antics. |

Well I am not sure it will. E real stable. That could definitely be an issue. However I am not too worried about it. I have a plan to help compensate a bit for it. Mr. Rick I thought about leaves but I think that the wrap in the leaves would make it hard to keep tension on the dive system. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

You sir just made my day. I had only been able to find the one pic and had no idea what it was other than I was going to build it. Spent the evening in the cave building and designing. First time I have ever attempted any type of swing arm. Obviously it is just the rough start and the final arms will be a more scale design. They are currently made of 1/4 in Delrin stock and being that o have access to limited tooling I think I will probably be making them from Delrin as it is easy to work with. I was able to make a nice bearing seat for the rear wheel to sit in. A little more mock up of what I might do with this thing. There is going to be a great deal more work to be done as the revo diff is narrower than my rear wheel at the moment. I plan to mount the diff at the top of the swing arm so that the entire belt drive remains in tact regardless of the suspension travel. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk | |

It has been quite some time since I have posted in this build and that is because I am waiting on some parts to be made. Final drawings have been completed and now I am waiting on a friend to make them. I am pretty sure I have it figured out. I think I will be using the scx10ii as a base for this project due to the already included transfer case and cms setup. With the technicality of the rear swing arm and the body build I don't need any extra tasks for now. I am impatiently waiting for my parts and when they get here the build will begin. Well... things fell through with my. Dudu that was planning on getting the parts done for me. So it is back to mock up stage. I was able to install the rear swing arm on the scx10ii chassis. This led to me driving around a little bit in the basement. It was fun and I discovered a few things. 1. I will need to widen the rear of the frame by about 3/4 in or so. 2. The rear swing arm will not swing, but remain stationary because I need a straight driveline for the rear diff. 3. The front will be run in a droop setting so the whole truck sits lower to the ground. Here are some pics. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Thanks man. As you noticed it was posted up further. I have looked into the pics. Obviously I chose to go a different direction in the rear for more durability. This will be driven in comps in class 1 so it needs to hold up. Did a little more work tonight. I was able to locate a piece of brass to tie together my transfer case and rear diff. This will allow me to set a ride height and then it's off to the races. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Thanks guys. Progress is coming slower than I would like, but it is looking promising. I am waiting on a couple parts to be fabbed as I can't make them accurately enough on my drill press. Then I will be able to get moving again. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
